Aero Yassavi wrote:Do kin cats actually increase jump height? I thought jump height was a factor of movement speed, not sprint speed. This is a really good question.
I believe that horizontal velocity at the instant of jump (i.e. launch speed) will determine both jump height and jump range. Picture a speeding car launching from a 45-degree ramp. The higher the car's launch speed, the higher its peak will be, the longer its time-in-flight, and the farther it will travel in the air before landing (horizontal range). Specifically ...
Car (without myofibs) launch velocity of 25, 50, 100 m/s: Vertical Peak - 16m, 64m, 255m Time in Flight - 3.6s, 7.2s, 14.4s Horizontal Range - 64m, 255m, 1020m
So if your MinScout sprints twice as fast as my Commando, he'll leap 4x as far and as high. And this is before Myofibs alter his trajectory physics.

LUGMOS wrote:Adipem Nothi wrote:-snip- You are correct - assuming that mercs jump off of ramps. Since they don't, horizontal speed has nothing to do with vertical displacement in this instance. A car going faster off of a ramp will go higher and farther since it is angled where the horizontal movement now is angled upward, adding more kinetic energy to vertical movement. However, a merc's jump height has nothing to make it go at an angle, so no horizontal movement is transferred to vertical movement. So, in conclusion, kincats only affect jump distance, but not height.
Are you sure that mercs don't jump at an angle?
Let's assume for a moment that we do not; let's assume that when we jump, we always jump straight up regardless of land speed. Using the calculator above ... assuming a launch angle of 90 degrees, we'd have to sprint at 100,000,000 m/s to cover 1 meter in the air.
^ That can't be right.
I suspect we may jump at near 90 degrees if we're standing still, but the faster our speed, the lower our launch angle gets. If your merc sprints at 10 m/s then leaps, he'll cover something close to 10m with a leap. He may not be leaping from a ramp, but he still has a launch angle somewhere between 35 and 50 degrees.

I think Rattati was saying a triple stacked Scout would be able to get up to a container, so highly doubt it.
^ This is correct. Here's the quote:
