Instant FPS boost. The image is also crystal clear now and lacks the blurring effect that used to occur at range.

No. And if it did, it wouldn't justify the cause on a (relatively) dead console. |

when i got my ssd there were issues with loading textures causing fps spikes, which it seemed to help. that was over a year ago so not sure if that issue was eventually resolved.
recently sporadic low fps happens, particularly in certain sockets. having the SSD doesnt eliminate it completely, but i hear other people complain about the map becoming unplayable, where i can continue to play, but with fps lag.
unfortunately ive no metrics to back this up, only my experience with squadmates, some of who may be experiencing network latency rather than fps latency.

if you want an SSD you can put in a PS4 be aware my 500gb ps4 has 407GB usable space, games take upwards of 15gb for installs and patches can be around 7 gig so youll probably need a large (expensive) SSD for it to be worth using in a ps4.
in contrasty you could buy a small cheap SSD for your ps3 now and hold off until bigger ones get cheaper for the PS4.

An SSD will get you into games quicker and might load textures a little more quickly. But geometry is not being streamed from the hard drive so getting an SSD will make no difference to frame rate. |

get one it helps with loading times, less texture blur when spawning in for the first time and the galante research facility actually becomes playable. I had alot of occasions where my squadmates are complaining that the game runs like a slideshow while i could play just fine. Once you play dust with a SSD you dont want to go back to a regular PS3.
Bright is the opposite of dark! Who would have thought of that?!

Invest in a good Hybrid drive. Works wonders on Dust and all PS3 HDD games. |

I know that those with an SSD load in alot quicker and get time in the warbarge and see who is in the game well before me and getting to a point quicker they are halfway there or are there before i even get out of the MCC so framerates should improve if everything is loaded up.
Is it worth it to get one now for what is essentially a dying game on a dying console? |

No, it will not increase framerate. Only reduce load times and texture pop-in.
PS3 is outdated hardware.
