I am use to building my own PCs to spec and never really shopped premades for people.
I am looking for a viable solution for my corp mates to make the jump to Legion IF / WHEN it comes about.
How well would this run for them? |

Steam boxes are a step in the right direction to bring enlightenment to the console peasants...
But why exactly bother getting one for Legion? That game is probably not even being developed.
Vaporware man.
As far as exact specs go, that steam box would probably struggle with something like Star Citizen. And SC is your next best thing. This coming Saturday the FPS module is coming out.
Better off just putting cash together with your friend and building a high end system. Try pcpartpicker.com .

Agreed that Legion is a big IF at this point but that is the only thing they care about.
Really I am just trying to get them to come join me on BLR but not at the expensive of buying them a system. Thanks for the heads up on Star Citizen tho.

The featured budget build at PC Part Picker is both stronger and cheaper than the Steam box you posted.

But it won't run SC. Because the processor is a dual-core.
But it's still a good place to start if you want to get your buddy into PC gaming. And it will definitely run BLR.

Thanks. I will try to lean them that way they its just hard with someone that has no experience with hardware. They tend to be scared of spending 100s of dollars on faith that then will be able to put it together.

I can play one, track its progress, and see it manifesting before me; the other one has... what progress to show...exactly?
You apparently missed the implication of my post. I was simply encouraging the OP to have his friend make a machine with games in the future in mind. Build to handle the more demanding games, and your PC will serve you better in the long-run. Something wrong with that?

It is very simple. My buddy built his first computer year or so ago and he was terrfied as well but after about 4 hours it was built with no issues and all he had to say was "really? that was it?"
It is most definitely not hard at all, its pretty much plug and play. If you know how to put Legos together you pretty much know how to put a PC together. Its picking the right components at the right price that is the hard part but any forum like Overclock.net or Tomshardware.com will have a ton of people ready to help you put together an awesome build for the best price you can reasonably source the parts.
Building a PC is easier than ever and its more worth it than ever. I highly doubt I'll ever bother buying a console with what I can do on my PC. |

I suspect that for Legion, you'd better off with one of these.
