These threads say the ion pistol is horrible but I find it absolutely better than the Ascp and scp..

It definitely is.
It is a compact ScR with much less range but more OHKO potential.

Ever since the buff, it's been pretty good. Before, with that 4sec seize time and... I forgot the size of the clip, but I remember that the ScP had a larger clip. |

I will challenge any Ion pistol user to a duel against me and my dual BrScPs.
600+ damage headshots FTW.
The only thing I like about the Ion is its damage profile. Admittedly, I've not used it since the sidearm challenge, so take the above FWIW. |

I've had the IoP since it was released. True, the buff was a very welcome change, but it still didn't feel like it hit like it should, minus the charge shot (which is akin to winning a few lotos in a row).
I started using the ScP and that thing is much superior due to handling, range, and dat h3ads0t mult. Even at close range, ScP does much better. And that really shouldn't be how it works, considering the IoP cqc status.
Gallente User since Jan. 28th, 2013. Touched on every Gallente role since.

It's several steps up from the first version we had, fun to use even, just some flaws keeping it back. Particularly hate the auto charge shot it gets sometimes in lagy matches (meaning often :()
