I play solo and keep getting put in militia teams against proto squads... Why must I be punished like this?

I've also been getting put on "MLT" teams, but as soon as I'd get my uplinks in decent hiding places whilst on my Scout and then find a supply depot to switch into my Proto ScanLogi, the "MLT" teams would magically transform into "ADV" and "PRO" teams.
Honestly... there's something about lighting up the entire red team that triggers the "I must try hard!" response from blueberries. I feel like a god when this happens: like I'm commanding an army to fight a holy war. |

Now I'm gonna have to try that out and see if it helps |

Well, obviously your MU is so high that you are the tipping force that would result in a clean win!
The interesting thing is that many of us have had the same experience. We fight against the same team composition over and over. You would think that we would be scrambled to where someone would be on the giving side of the stomp rather than solely the receiving. Same goes for when you get on the same team, repeatedly, with the organized "we are going to win" squad; the game seems to have a tendency to say "keep putting you on this team" rather than throwing you on the other side.
