Date & Time: February 21 @ 1500 EST / 2000 GMT Channel: Lecture.D-UNI
The topic will cover the basics of trade as understood in Eve Online - which will be often used as a reference - since Simple Trading will very likely be introduced in Warlords 1.1 if the Trello Development Roadmap is still accurate.
I have come to the realization that there are some players here who are not use to the concept of having a direct player-to-player secondary market in a first-person shooter setting especially one that is closely related to New Eden which is where Eve Online players reside. It's also possible that such players may not have been scammed before and might fall prey to the typical Jita scam shenanigans that experience players would otherwise avoid.
I'm an Eve Online player as well who has experience with industry and trade and I would love to help those players out in Dust in preparation for Simple Trading.
Keep in mind that this will be a crash course on the whole thing and thus will only cover the basics of trade and what to expect. Having to explain the complexities of trade such as trend analysis, margins, and all that stuff will take too long to explain and thus you'll be better off reading Investopedia for that kind of in-depth knowledge. Although I will cover scams of various kinds as well as bring up some examples of low/high-profile scams that occurred in Eve Online just so you can know what to expect once the new feature hits your client.
If there are any other marketeers and experienced scammers here in Dust who would like to help out, you can join in as well. It would be great for prospective traders and scammers-in-training to hear from you.
Cheers.

My entire Eve online experience is Market trading and industry, so yeah, I'll help wherever possible. Plus I hate scammers with a passion, so anything to inhibit their activities is a plus in my books.

The lecture is over and it lasted about 50 minutes with at least over a dozen people in attendance.
We discussed all terminology, what might happen in Warlords 1.1, the common scams to avoid, a possibility of players acting as brokers, and certain legalities established by CCP.
Overall, I came to the realization that Simple Trading is not really going to be simple anyways given the nature of New Eden and that about half of the discussion was all about scams and how they are setup or avoided. RMT is a topic that came up near the end and it needs to be mentioned to the players that RMT is illegal and that CCP will ban the living daylights out of your account if you are caught doing RMT. Details of the Code Bazaar also came up as well as how to get the Templar Codes and what is offered in the Eve: The Second Decade Collector's Edition box.
Articles covering major scams were also referenced as examples of how evil players can be especially when greed is at play here.
I hope everyone enjoyed the lecture and I hope I didn't sound as monotonous as I did in the previous lecture for Scouts.

RMT = Real Money Trading
It's the practice of giving a third party some real life cash for in-game currency. CCP prohibits such a things in Eve Online and Dust. It's pointless in Eve anyways considering that Eve Online has PLEX which is designed specifically to undermine RMT rings while still benefiting CCP, the players who buy it from other players, and the players who sell it to other players in-game. One thing that was discussed in the lecture during the Q&A session was the hope that maybe a similar system would work in Dust.
PLEX = Pilot License EXtension that can be purchased with cash from CCP. Player who buys it has the option of either redeeming it for 30 days of game time in Eve or sell it for however much it's worth on the secondary player-run market for ISK. This also enables players who don't have real world cash to be able to acquire PLEX with just ISK if they have enough for it. The average price of PLEX in Eve is currently 800 million ISK. It can also be redeemed for AUR, allow players to customize the face and body of their avatar, and be able to train an ALT on the same account for an extra 30 days while their main character is still training.
