Sit back and let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, grenade spam was a huge problem, CCP made grenades cost an ungodly amount of nanites to fix the spam, the end.
Well, I am getting really tired of this. A STD nanohive will instantly deplete if it restores a single militia locus nade, that's how ridiculous the nanite cost of grenades is. How about we just cut out the middle-man here and make it so nanohives no longer restore grenades at all? That way when I deploy a nanohive I will actually be able to get some ammo out of it before some guy walks by and insta-pops it because he threw one single grenade.
Grenades are by no means a staple of any fitting, so it isn't like it was ever necessary for nanohives to supply grenades in the first place. Let nanohives give people the necessities for survival - weapon ammunition. I don't need a grenade to defend myself, I DO need some ammo, however, so it is totally counterproductive for a nanohive to prioritize giving me a grenade over primary weapon ammo.
TL;DR- Make it so nanohives no longer supply grenades.

I would also ask for Sleek fluxes that do reduced damage, but can be thrown farther and are restored by nanohives without a ridiculous cost. This variant will basically be used for equipment clearing, not for actual combat.

Instead of removing grenade replenishment entirely, why not just move it to the bottom of the restock priority?
Ammo first, then nades & Res, etc. |

Pretty sure all ammo is restored at the same rate at the same time?

My problem with that idea is that if two people step on the nanohive, one with no ammo at all, and the other one only missing a grenade, the second one will insta-pop the nanohive before the first gets barely any ammo. The first guy was prevented from having his only way to defend himself, while the second guy got an extraneous item he could easily have done without.
It's like I said in the OP, grenades aren't linchpins of any fitting, so it's hardly like anybody would suffer from this change, and you could still resupply from supply depots if you needed your grenades that bad.

I think you're exaggerating here a lot, but I agree with the basic thrust of your post. I get kind of frustrated with how quickly nanohives of any tier pop due to grenade or remote use, this also affects WP income from dropping hives, and it affects how well you can set up in a long term "camping" scenario (i.e. when using mass drivers or forge guns from a specific location).
Alternative solution: give nanohives a separate nanite pool for grenades vs. normal ammo. That way you are guaranteed to get a certain amount of actual ammunition out of a nanohive, and grenades will not completely consume it. Bonus points if the ammo pool can cannibalize the grenade nanite pool to get more ammo if needed. |

An example of priority working in game now is the dual triage/ammo hives, which refill armor as first priority and will not give you ammo until your armor is full.
I dont think that would be a good system for ammo distribution though, I would not want to wait through 4-5 extra pulses of nanites before being able to leave the hive with full ammo. |
