And smooth out this entire game.
What is the first thing new players notice about Dust? It has a confusing fittings system...
What's the second thing? Dust is very choppy and clunky. This is the kind of thing that turns away new players immediately, long before they ever get to see the awesome depth, customization, community etc.
It's easy to overlook for the community, because everyone who sticks with this game eventually learns to deal with it. We eventually learn the exact perfect spot to run in order to make it up a hill, we learn where the invisible walls are, we learn which ramps will make our character have a seizure, we learn that we need to stop and wait a few seconds before we can jump over a sidewalk curb etc. etc. etc.
Learning this stuff really isn't fun (not to mention that new players have to learn it while being protostomped).
First impressions are everything, and as great as I feel this game is overall, it gives a bad one.
Off the top of my head, here's what you NEED to do.
- Fix how mercs interact with terrain. Make it much more visible where you can and cannot run. Particularly with hills. - Change/Remove the camera and gun shake when you start to fall. It's insanely annoying to be shooting at somebody while standing on a hill, and suddenly your camera is shaking and your gun is all over the screen because of a weird piece of terrain you're on. - Fix all invisible walls - Fix jumping. Raise minimum jump height and add hurdling to waist height obstacles - Literally smooth the maps. They are too bumpy. Even paved roads have bumps that will flip your LAV if you hit them full speed. These bumps are also what causes the nightmare of trying to walk up a hill. - Review existing maps and look for ways to streamline map design. Some maps have awkward choke points and places that are hard to get out of.
Fixing these things would make the player experienve (new and old) MUCH better.
Please make these things a high priority.
Who cares what some sniper has to say.

fix very simple things, If you are going to call in a vehicle why are you told it is not accessible after selecting it, You should not be able to select that option, The option should be redded out an then there should be an option that shows you were you can call in vehicles

I would like a simple color code for climb and cannot climb, It is sort of that way now but it is very common for me to get stopped in my tracks when I think I can actually move, |

Similar to this. Most inclines have a dead stop at the top. Remember uprising 1.0. Yeah that bad. We get stuck on everything. Our mercs lift their feet higher than the things we cannot traverse. Jumping takes valuable stamina. Please look into it

I concur that polish is much needed.
While new content is great and also required, we're in a position where Dust needs to make a much better better impression during the first 2-5 hours of gameplay. That means we need NPE and polish.
As a vet I'm not qualified to give good advice on what needs polishing. CCP should look into running some focus group tests with non-FPS gamers and see where they get hung up. Which will be everywhere - but some things in particular. Then fix the subgroup of those particular hindrances that are easy to fix.
... But maybe just maybe this has already been done and the automatic inertia dampener was the first (heavy handed...) result from that. |

Lol. CCP is too busy adding more colors to things to work on core game mechanics.
The only real truth in history is that it was bloody.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the "awkward choke points" but other than that YES to all of them. These are by far the most aggravating things about the game, I was going to pick an example of which one is worst but can't...
wait yes I can, ALL the terrain glitches on Ashland near 'C'

Being an experienced player, you probably got stuck in them when you were new, and haven't gone there since.
I don't know socket names, but there are a handful of places you can fall, where there is a single ladder to get out. Rooftops can be annoying when the building is covered in railings which can't be jumped over etc. Railings are hugely annoying when we can't hurtle over them. Particularly for heavy frames.
A rule of thumb, a player should be able to turn no more than 180 degrees and be able to get out of the area they're in. Way too much obstruction in general.

For me, it wasn't the fitting screen that was confusing. It was the control scheme. Triangle to crouch, not switch weapons? Wut? |

I climbed a ladder today, got stuck at the top, and fell off the building, twice.
Had to climb to the top and then jump over an invisible boundary.
Fix please

There is a better place to put this info. Also narrow it down. Taking a look at the maps there is a grid For each.

I think your analysis is a bit over simplified.
It does not take into account that Rattati has limited resources. It would be nice if we could just point to a problem and CCP would devote every resource toward fixing it, but that isn't the reality.
Also, pointing out a problem and finding a solution aren't the same thing. Sometimes problems are more complex than those of us on the outside realize, and fixing them may take more time and resources than we might realize.
What is more, by using labor more efficiently, they will be able to increase the revenue of Dust, and therefore have MORE resources to put in and fix the larger problems.
I think that Rattati has gone about fixing things the best way, even if it would be nice if it could be done differently in a perfect world.
Former CEO of the Land of the BIind.
Any double entendre is unintended I assure you.

One thing that *still* gets me killed after all this time is the inability to roll around a corner into cover. Nope, better give that wall a good foot of clearance or it'll just stop me dead in my tracks. It's like there's a lack of subtlety in vectoring or some such.
Reality is the original Rorschach.
