I've been trying to write stories based on my accounts as a mercenary, and I got caught up on a question. Has there ever been a proxy war? Could there ever be a proxy war? What do you imagine it would be over?
For those that are not enlightened, a proxy war is a battle between two entities in a cold war or current stalemate, who use smaller and less developed entities as intermediates, often only using their influence, whether through politics, monetary gain, or backhanded deals.

There are dozens of such conflicts waged daily within New Eden specifically to advance the interest of the involved groups through various means. These could be acts of corporate or industrial sabotage, destabilisation of specific regional holdings, or even conflicts designed to draw public attention to specific holdings corporations do not wish to be in the media.
For example the heretical and destructive Blood Raider Covenant makes extensive use of Cloned Mercenary Soldiers to act as their intermediaries in High Security Space as we are more freely able to operate within the established boundaries in their terrorist attacks again Amarrian corporations and the Heir Families.

The black eagles have indescrimately handed out weaponry to mercenaries on all side on more than one occasion. I know I personally own a stockpile of them... Mostly because I refuse to trust kakku tech.
All empires have done it over the years. Frankly, none of them want to see an end to the war.

Lol, really I meant corporate proxy wars in the Molden Heath region, concerning immortal gunners (we really need a community panel to figure out a proper term for "us.").
But actually, thanks for reminding me that most of what's been going on are proxy wars/battles. Kinda easy to forget about the "bigger world" when you've been focused on smaller realms for the longest.
