I hear it constantly.. Someone says they keep dying or this weapon is op, they're always being Proto stomped, the flipping sky falls down N it's 'squad up'... Just... No... That doesn't really do anything but mean there cursor changes colour N that doesn't make you a better player... unless your the hulk N green is your thing..
So here's a few basic starting points which will help
1. Look around you, your control pad has sticks which move in a circular motion that allows you to spin around, you'd be surprised at how many people I can casually run behind and follow before I get bored N shoot them in the back, seriously just doing this will make you a much better player!!
2. When you see an enemy look at weapon effectiveness v your target, learn your weapons range and pick targets accordingly, new players see an enemy at a great distance N just shoot doing barely anything and giving away there position, who needs scanners when ppl tell you where they are? Engage enemies at your optimum range, surprise them and you'll be much more successful as a killer!
3. Use your initiative, if there's a troublesome tank and you see an aver trying to deal with it either grab a swarm N help or cover them from enemy infantry, if someone dies revive them if someone's low on armour rep them, you don't have to be in a squad to be a team player there are countless roles N tactics in dust so you need to be flexible!
4. Voice in team chat for pubs you'd be amazed at how much easier domination is when 16 ppl know what's going on, even if you don't have a mic you can still listen!
Just being in a squad isn't in reality much help if it's 6 ppl not working together, I've been in alot of random squads and honestly apart from potentially getting an orbital without teamwork they're a waste of time, you new guys have been given lazy advice squadding up can be great but you need to do the 4 things above to actually be any use in a squad or even in a team!!
Incredibly basic and easy give it a try if not I'll be following you soon and blapping you in the back :P

You know where a lot of players get great advice and learn the ropes of the game?
In squads.

I tell everyone to squad up. I'm sorry you can't get good squads. Most of the new players you are talking about are little kids.
I also go to the academy and help out on team chat. They are seriously clueless. I watched a guy jump out of his LAV and hack a flaming enemy LAV. What are you gonna do with two LAVs buddy? I drop them a channel invite and help them once they get out of the academy.
My guys have standing orders to destroy uplinks and hack CRUs. We don't farm bluebs. If we see someone who tries and has a mic well pick them up. I run pub squads And CRU tanks. I got safe links and logi support. There's not much more I can do for new guys.

Hmm yeah tbh if you expect me to read the rest of what you put you may want to change the 1st paragraph because
A. If I want a good squad I'll join a Corp or alliance one, I just get bored of running in a Proto squad and I like mixing it up with randoms
B. Actually it was aimed at people who have more important things to do like work//spend time with kids//gf than wait around for a squad and it's a game console ofcourse there are kids playing and seeing how few players play this game we need everyone so what's wrong with helping them?

I seriously didn't make it thru your post. The tone felt sarcastic so I added a little real. Truth is most players never make it to the forums. I been doin this a couple years now and I got guys with 60 million sp that haven't visited the forums once.
I tell you what I will read your complete post. If it's good I will give you a like. We good?

OP, you're missing the point. Your post has good advice, and solid fundamentals. But squadding up is about more than getting pointers. I, for one, have stuck with this game primarily because of the social aspect. I've made friends on here that I enjoy playing with. If not for this, I'm sure I would have wandered off long ago.
When the first advice a new player gets is "Squad up" it's not just so they can learn tips, it's about connecting with other people and finding a group to play with. Learning the rest takes time, time they are more likely to invest surrounded by corp mates or friends.

The whole point of a squad is to a) be organized, and/or b) eff around together with friends. Not doing either of this defeats the whole purpose of squads.

Squads arent the best solution to problems, often since I dont have a mic I just get kicked after a few moments, also the people in the squads sometimes just have a conversation with themselves and dont even think about talking strategy, and ive seen more often then not joining a squad and they'll just sit there talking for 10 mins, even after hitting 6 players.
Getting into a squad isnt easy, finding one thats actively deploying and actually communicating with the noobs is very rare
Alot of players dont get on the forums and dont see all this advice, they have no idea that there are channels there to help them.

Squads don't work when people don't understand that you're supposed to communicate. I mean, that's common sense. What the Hell is a squad if everyone's doing their own thing and not caring for the other?

I really don't mind if you read it or not or if you like it or not, as long as it helps at least one person that's all that matters.
It's meant to be jokey but we brits have a wierd sense of humour so I apologise if you thought it was sarcastic.
