The concept isnt new. You spawn into a match in you loadout or whatever and you fight in it until you die. this makes choosing a loadout more important as you cant switch out of it.
currently, the begging minute of a match is simply, scouts running around deploying uplinks. fine. then they either die ad respawn as an medium suit or run to a supply depot and swap out to a different class.. not fine.
whats the problem with changing suits at supply depots and in between spawns? no commitment, no real consequence of spawning in suit for the job.
other issues is this... enemy team is killing all your teammates. you call in a tank to help out. at the time there was zero AV on the field. but by the time your tank is delivered. the enemy team has 6 guys standing at the supply depot switching to av gear. usually switching out from medium suits to scout or heavy suits. not cool.
you counter to the enemies over abundance of anti infantry slayer fits has been counter before you even showed up. If im expecting enemy vehicles support then ill use a commando and bring an av weapon and a anti infantry weapon, as that's the purpose of the commando.
another issue are uplinks, i see a scout off in the distance drop an uplink. i kill him and then run over to kill the uplink, but when i get there, he's now spawned in a heavy suit for a silly revenge kill.
so i would change how supply depots and uplinks work.
supply depots would only resupply your ammo AND equipment. a new inventory station would be placed in the ground spawns or MCC that allow for swapping between suit classes and these station would only be in the ground and MCC spawns.
after dying, you can choose to switch your suit if you wish, but you can only deploy in the ground or MCC spawns. if you want to deploy on an uplink you must deploy in the same suit class you died in. meaning you cant die in a scout suit and then come back in a heavy suit on a uplink placed in a room somewhere, you'd have to come back in a scout suit. however you dont have to come back in the same scout suit you died in. you could you a scout suit with a different fit than the previous fit you died in.
why change the mechanics? what would we gain by this?
better balanced matches, slower paced, and more tactical. proto squads with multi million SP toons cant quickly counter things after the fact. they have to be prepare before hand, and preparing for the wronf thinf leaves them open to more effective counters.
one other thing id change about uplinks are their spawn timers and number of spawns according to suit classes. either make it so a scout suit would deploy faster than medium and heavy suits, while heavy suits would have the longer deploy times. OR make it so that scouts can spawn more times on a uplink than medium suit and heavy suits spawn fewer times a uplink.
you do this by having a deployment cost, wear scouts cost less to deploy, and heavy suits cost more to deploy.
say an uplink has a value of 10.
a scout would have a deployment cost of 1
a medium would have a cost of 2
a heavy would have a cost of 3.
everytime someone deploys on a uplink, the value of the uplink gets decreased. when it hits zero it pops.

1) this can be countered by destroying the supply depot 2)I dont think you can spawn in on your own link, it will pop when you try to spawn heavy because they have 0 bandwidth. 3) we already have enough scouts running around lets give them another buff so they can spawn faster too (NOPE) 4)try playing a match where there is only 1 uplink and no one wants to run logi and tell me that is a good idea, the value of the uplink does decrease by 1 per spawn regardless of the suit which seems fine. |

This would buff Vehicles and Nerf Derplinks, neither of which I think is needed.
