Just in case there are any new players around here looking to spec into scouts or some old players looking for advise on what to expect and do when cross training into scouts, I will be doing a lecture at the Lecture.D-UNI chat channel this Saturday February 14th at 1500 EST (2000 GMT/UTC). It would be nice to have other scout veterans who can help cover topics other than the nova knives such as shotgunning, running assault-lite, infiltration, flay-locks, etc.
You don't have to be in Dust University to attend. Just get into the chat channel and listen in. If you don't have a mic, that's fine as long as you can hear me and the others. Q&A sessions are usually held at the end as well but if all questions get answered it would be nice to conclude the lecture by forming a scout squad and going into a few matches.

I've two aspiring MinScouts who I'd very much like to get in on this event. If you're interested, I'd also like to hire you for private training (thinking 1M Isk per merc per 30 minute session). Will be in touch in-game tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to give out this service for free and I am more interactive with a crowd than with just one or two individuals.
Also, it's great to be back to lecturing now that Warlord 1.0 is here and I feel now is the time to step it up with helping any new players that might have arrived.

The thing I discovered about being successful at ninja scout was how good a ping you have vs. the other guy. That really is the only reason I fail at it. A heavy turning around to shoot you when the graphics shows them only halfway turned around? Jumping and dodging like all the other scouts only to realize you are not moving as fast as they are because you don't have a third world connection that allows you to blip around twice as fast and dodge hit detection?
Yeah. Experiment in a heavy suit where you can last long enough to see how the mechanics of the game are affecting performance and you'll see what I mean. It ain't about getting good.
Death is a serious business. So is running a shoddy, half-baked game company.
