my chat channels that are normally bustling with chatter are near empty again and i'm coming up against the same guys in matches just swapping the teams around slightly

No new game modes. PC wasn't updated. FacWar is the same ol' bullshit.
So players didn't run back to Dust 514 like they usually do for patches.
Warlords 1.1 looks like it will have more meat on it: player trading, PC 2.0 stuff, and supposedly new game modes. I would expect more players to return for Warlords 1.1 than Warlords 1.0, to be honest.

Statistically, if you queue back up when you leave match, you're very likely to always get the same people, because those people are also queuing back up at the same time as you are. The other people you might otherwise get mixed in with are probably in matches that begin/end several minutes apart from when your matches are starting/ending.

yeah tbh i forgot about exams coming up still, most the guys in the channels have left school. majority of us are 20s-30s

Evolution just dropped, that might have taken some players. But honestly the real cause is probably that Warlord only added passive content to the game (Warbarge, new BPO's and market promos, tweaks to salvage), except for the new socket, which wasn't even really announced leading up to the release of the update. Also there hasn't been a newsletter yet for Warlord, so some players that usually drop back in after updates may not even be aware there has been one (C'mon CCP, I want some free officer sidearms!) Ripley is right, the features slated for Warlord 1.1 and beyond will probably draw more return players.

I've only ever actually come across you twice Nirwanda, both in the Amarr team in fw.
But there has been a noticeable lack of people atm. The FW Kickstarter channel is almost empty, only a handful of people in MF online. Bar Fight's fairly active though

Well, statistically, this says a lot about the size of the current playerbase, the numbers on eve offline aside, and none of it positive. |

Personally, I'm closer to retirement than to my university days, so I'm at work during the week days. And I have a life, so I don't spend many hours on this game. But I was under the impression that many players were in their late 20's/early 30's. In other words, well past any sort of "school".
Looks like these have all moved on, leaving primarily students.
Look at the corporation recruitment forum: mostly dead. Even the War Room is pretty dead these days. It seems to me like there's almost no one left playing Dust. |
