You know which map I am talking about.
Can something be done to make this playable? Or, should we remove it now that we have a new city socket?
Most I have talked to agree that the lag has gotten worse and more frequent since the update. Funny enough this map seems to be very common in the current skirmish rotation.
What say you shitheads? Remove or improve? |

It is my favorite map. I know I am being somewhat of a broken record, but honestly a SSD completely removed my lag issues on that map. I'm thinking it is a hardware issue rather than a shortcoming on CCPs end. |

It was one of my favorites too!
You could be right but,
I regularly play with multiple mercs who have an SSD installed and they get the same lag as the rest of the squad.

If you're talking about Gallente Research Facility ...
Absolutely a fun a map to play. Should be removed from PC circulation (until fixed). Should probably be removed from pub circulation (until fixed).

Rattati posted this yesterday regrding the new maps/outposts
CCP Rattati wrote: it was a little bit of an experiment and we were ready to pull it if necessary.
On the topic though. The outpost with the Medium socket and the 5 square buildings forming a V, vehicle repair facility or depot, has amazing performance., very smooth and responsive.
The direction we want to take is to offer more simple maps, one, two or three medium sockets, skip the large ones, and have a smaller play area. This is one of the steps to increase performance.
Try it out and let us know.
Can any Devs or CPM give their thoughts on what to do with the Lag Map?

Yeah I love this map but the choppy play is both annoying and impossible to play with. We need a fix please |

This map needs to be removed until it's fixed pure and simple.

OBV improve, it's otherwise a great map. The question is how.
What are ways to reduce the lag?
Here are some brainstorm ideas to reduce lag, for this map specifically, and just in general
-Trim map size: The maps are actually huge. There are videos of people who glitched the redline and drive an LAV until the match ends. That's a lot for the game to load, I'm sure we could do without a lot of it.
- Trim Unnecessary bits off the lag map city socket. Maybe remove (for now) the fiery tops of those silo/towers that have burning fire on top of them.
- Maybe give the option to turn off your Neocom during matches, or only leave one chat open while in battle. I know running the Neocom uses quite a bit of resources. The game is much more likely to crash if you have the maximum number of chats open, rather than just a few.
Who cares what some sniper has to say.

I love the map, I typically don't have issues with lag on it but I would hate to see it go.

Whatever was changed in the last update corresponding to this socket, made it worse lagwise...
I love this socket, but it is unplayable at least 40% of the times (it usually worsens over the duration of the match).
Why that is, needs to be investigated, but there is probably no one who has the time or skills to do so, so maybe dumping it untill fixed might be the right course of action.
I never had lag like that on the new caldari production facility or the new MCC socket. It is definitely related to this particular (Gallente research Facility) big socket... |

Definitely improve rather than remove.
Personally, I've never had large framerate problems. Once in a while framerate dips below 10, but if so only temporarily. I assume this is down to me seldomly being in large chats or using voice.
The fact that some people are having problems while others don't tells me that the outpost is only over memory budget by a few hundred kilobytes. That means we should definitely look at fixing it rather than removing it.
Some ideas (map for reference): - The two large towers in the bottom right (M14 and L16) serve no function. They could be removed to save some memory. - The power core at H6 could be switched off so we don't have to load the particle effect. - There's a useless tower at B14 that doesn't have to be there. - The rooftops around the whole map could be simplified to save some textures. - I don't know whether this would help, but removing turret installations near the outpost might clear some additional memory. |

I don't think that this is going to help, since there must be a dynamic issue with this map. I never have lag from the get go, and it usually worsens when you move in and out of the socket. I don't think that removing polys will solve that problem. |

I rarely ever get lag in that socket. Coincidentally or not, I have an SSD.
I get much worse lag in the rings and two towers sockets. |
