A the moment you cannot creat a fitting with a dropsuits you havent skilled into. Change this requirement so we can't play with that suit but that we can create fittings with it.
Why? We would be able to create fittings with different dropsuits to see what we should skill into.
At the moment this problem is solved by protofit but with, I think, a minr change it will be possible to add it in game, removing the limitation that doesn't let use create fittings we don't have the skill for.
Ex: I wan't to skill into an assault suit. I can't choose between Minmatar and Gallente. I create a couple of fittings with both to see wich one I prefer. These fittings are red because I don't have the skill to use them so I won't be able to use them in game. But I'm still able to check them and choose my favorite one without having to use protofits.

Very reasonable request. Players may want to do a "What If" fit and see if they need a couple more points of PG or CPU first so they can see if the fit they want is even possible.

It's also nice for vanity reasons. I skilled into caldari assault purely so that I can wear a frame's ck.0 in warbarge.

Not so sure about being able to wear it on the Warbarge. I think that's the time where a player gets to show off what they've trained, like a status symbol. If you let anyone do that, it devalues that symbol.

Hello, Pagl, and I too have sat at my NeoCom (on Saturday nights) and want that option also.
But, then I change my mind. I think the game INTENDS (though it doesn't express it to us well enough ) for us to use Militia gear, and our free Dropsuit BPOs, and ONLY these two things, to investigate what we should skill into or should aim for. These two things MINIMIZE our risk of wasting ISK/SP, but the devs want that "RISK" to be in your face all the time.
Showing us the full possibility in advance with the NeoCom alone would be AWESOME, but would be like having a broker who knows in advance that "Edelson Stock" is going to give you a guaranteed 5000% profit if you start investing all you've got into it now. I sure would want an broker like that, because it takes away all the risks of me making the wrong choice and losing some investment.
GǪ.And TAKING AWAY excess risk, is almost the opposite of what the devs want in these EVE-type games. They want you to have to put up "X" amount of SP (whether you choose to do it the high-risk Proto-try way, or the lower-risk Militia-grind way), just to FIND OUT if certain fittings are possible. It's rough that way---that's really rough on us players. Just as rough as inviting us into a game, and not giving us thorough instructions to advise us how this game was can be better played so we don't regularly make our poor decisions.
But, being a rough game is the one thing CCP never kept any secret about. So I guess it kinda makes sense for us to be locked out of the fitting menus until spending our SP on those suits.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Dust is a "rough" game in a lot of things but this is not one. There is no risk, you can math it yourself or just go to protofits.com andd see what's possible and what is not. The risk isn't about knowing if something will fit in, it is about:"is this the right suit for my style? or should I skill something else?" and that's something we don't know until we skill into it, and this won't change at all.

Exactly eheh. Idk if CCP will let us be able to Wear it on the warbarge. But we should at least be able to create fittings...
