Fix it
That's all you have to do and all you've really needed to do for 2 years, we have enough content for now so just make the game playable and for everyone rather than the 100 people this game seems to be catered for

I agree.
When I talk to other players about Dust, these are the two issues that most frustrate both the average and advanced player.
I know it's hard. I know programmers are in short supply. I know UE and the PS3 have limitations. But it would really help with player enjoyment and retention if these issues could be addressed.
By way of example: I was in several PCs last night -- including a few against you guys. Some of them I literally could not hit anyone and I was getting about 5 FPS. I think I killed 2 people -- both with 'nades. lol Others I had great framerate and hit detection. Same sockets. Same map. Resetting before every round but with quite different results. It is beyond frustrating. |

Possibly the most infuriating thing is to see that shield flare, see the hit markers and they take no damage. They then turn around and insta melt you

I think it's too late for that. Look at the content we've received in the last few updates. The Warbarge is a 2D side scrolling forge gun shoehorned into the Neocom menu. There is never going to be full racial parity among vehicles (even if/when we get all the previous variants back). The "New" maps are actually just old maps that were never implemented. I respect that Ratatti and his skeleton crew have done the best they can with the very limited resources they have, and I also realize how terribly pessimistic this makes me sound, but I just don't see it happening. If fixing hit detection has eluded CCP completely thus far, even when they had a significantly larger team of devs, there is no reason to think a smaller crew stretched even thinner will be able to make a dent in it. Consider also that the entire game is essentially balanced around the wonky hit detection. Weapons, dropsuits, and modules have all been tweaked to be as competitive as possible in spite of the underlying game mechanics' issues. As far as matchmaking goes, that presents another problem in addition to limited dev man-hours, with our ever shrinking player base. There have been attempts to balance teams better, but fracturing the player base further will present it's own problems. The faces can be pretty familiar from match to match as it is.
TL;DR
We're hopefully going to get some pretty cool new content in what remains of DUST's lifetime, but it seems highly unlikely to me that there will be many, if any, real improvements made to the game's underlying mechanics.

It is beyond frustrating. PS3 limitations have always been a bullshit excuse. Nothing in this game would even come close to the limits if the original team knew what they were doing; as there's nothing more complex in this game than what you'd see in battlefield.
Now, I can admit the map size is a bit of a burden; it's freaking huge and I'm not talking about the part we actually play on. I bet if they'd trim off a good bit of the no-go zone we'd see at least a slight performance boost.
Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty hipster!

I just want the matchmaking to work. I haven't won a single match at all today and its been just stomps where my team can't even take a single objective or hold the one closest to the MCC. My 500+ Caldari Assault is torn apart faster then I can even comprehend while my weapons take half a clip to kill a scout.
