My rant to the CPM,
Or at least give the option for players to see what is in a match before they jump in. Make the game not as bland looking. Make the tie in to eve better (I don't care how, anything would be better than what it is). The assault rifle has a scope on it in fitting... Yet not in game? Either take the scope off the model in fitting, or add a scope to it in game. But most of all FIX THE GAP BETWEEN LOW SP PLAYERS AND HIGH SP!!!!!!!!
Not that all this matters, I'm sure the game will be ending with Legion's release :/ |

ratati would never push for something based on meta lvl of suits... unless he lowered the lvl of his officer suit to 0. or he would never get any kills.

I'm a newbie to Dust, but I'm heavily interested and invested in New Eden. (Capsuleer since '09). I read blogs, chronicles, listen to podcasts, follow on all the social media i can.
I've been eagerly following news on Dust since the initial announcement way back when; but since I had no access to a PS3, never got a chance to play...
Whelp, now I finaly got my hands on one four days ago and I haven't played any other games on it. It's a great game: deep, challenging, and beautiful.
Here's a quick timeline of my experience:
Day 1: WOOoo! New game! I've been looking forward to this forever! Match 1/30: TRY ALL the things! K/D ratio positive. Buy AUR
Day 2: I want to fly dropships. Read up. Try it. This is HARD. Good. It should be. Need SP. Keep footslogging. K/D ratio still positive.
Day 3: Ooh, looks like I've moved out of the rookie battles. Death. Death. Defeat. Rinse. Repeat. That's ok, new eden is harsh and unforgiving. (4 hours later...) 8 kill assists and 0 Kills.
Day 4: Back to the grind... Another 6 hours online, NOT ONE kill. This is not about skill at all, everyone has uber gear. Can't really be bothered anymore. Well done.
tl;dr I am a HUGE New Eden fan, I keep up with the media on the subject daily. I came in ready for the learning cliff. I was prepared to stick with Dust, hand over real cash, support the devs, ignore the detractors and grind my way up.
But I'm bored of losing clones when I'm at 10% armour before I've even seen my assailant. If this game can do that to ME, I hate to think how long that target audience would last...
---
So, CCP... Higher level Mercs demand higher wages. Sometimes a corp doesn't want to pay top dollar so they hire the little guys.
Wonder what fanfest will say about this facet of tbe cluster.

Solo PvP in Eve is a steeper learning curve than Dust. |

I'm going to take your post at face value. My best recommendation is to join a more established corp that can actually help get you spun up and acclimated to Dust.
With 7 - 9mil SP you can be incredibly effective if you carefully spend your SP. You can get by with less if you have a pretty sharp gun game.

And why not even eve has low/high sec. for the short time I played eve I spent a good amount of time in high sec and was fairly safe and if I died it was because I got brave from killings a couple of pirates and wanted to do something harder. And I was really dying a lot once I moved to low sec. people kill u there just for the lulz. They even talked about doing something similar for dust but nothing came out of it. |

Dropships are like a glass of water when you are running, keep it balanced so the water stays in the cup, and I have 0SP in vehicles and fly DS on a regular basis, squishing people and taking points, being a general nuisance at the most inopportune times for people with them. Militia is still great to get tactical with.

Ehh not really that much, just marginally different. There is no curve in Dust, just a steep hill to climb all the time.

I've tried PvP in Eve and I get stomped so hard so fast that I don't even know what to take from it to improve. The good thing about Dust is that you can spawn back in and get after it. In Eve I have to fly around buying stuff to fit another ship and search for something resembling a "fair fight" that I can learn from.
The new 4 man squads should help, hopefully auto-squading comes with it. I learned so much as a noob from this feature. Playing with others, especially those more skilled and experienced is recommended. This way you are burning through clones, but you can get feedback on skilling, fitting, and map movement. |
