This is a problem mainly for blaster tanks, that need to get close to other tanks to be effective. Is it possible to tone down the scanning range of tanks? The change you made on infantry to see tank farther also apply to other tanks and imo it's not fair in a tank vs tank battle.
Setting up an ambush is probably the most valuable tecnique when playing with tanks, going frontal assault is always a secondary option based on technical superiority and not requiring skill. This large scan radius partially defeat the most skilled tecnique and encourage massive HP tanking.

That's somewhat subjective..... as "the most skilled technique" but hell it certainly works. However the Vehicle scanner is essentially the counter play module to a tank in hard cover or a socket. In many respects I wish the scanner would also tell you which direction your foe was facing in and perhaps even at what angle their turret was.

I'm not talking about the active scanner modules, i talk about the 50 and more meters tanks have of passive scan that detect other tanks, for infantry it's fine, but once you enter the tank you should have a different range of passive scan which is unable to detect other tanks if not in close proximity, 20-25 meters.

Ah I understand. Makes sense.

I find it funny that I can point at a tank over an infinite distance with a mile of cover in between us but I can still see it. Fix this?

It's not much of a problem, since you can see vehicles through objects across the whole map anyway, just by pointing your sight at them.
But, in the unlikely event that ever gets fixed, I would agree it gets a little annoying seeing everything that gets close even if you're not looking.
Then again if you listen, you can hear a tank before it comes on the radar anyway. This is why I didn't see the need for a vehicle scan in the first place, if you're too stupid to know the sound of a tank, I doubt you're paying enough attention to see the big orange box on the radar either. |
