They seem to serve the same purpose in different ways. Which is better? I need WP but get killed every time I shoot at someone. |

Drop uplinks are absolutely critical to victory in some matches.
When placed well they will bring in thousands of WP.
Nanite injectors are better used when you're running with a squad of people you know and want to pick them up.
Alternatively, get a logi suit and carry both.

starter fits are made of paper. get yourselt a standard suit with 3 lows, stack 2 plates and a rep or 3 plates and a compact nanohive.
uplinks are the king of equipment, as they are extremely useful and rewarding to use. other than that theres the rep tool, which is more rewarding for you and equally useful for your team, depending on circumstances.
No uplinks? use yours. Lots of uplinks? Rep a proto suit for free pts. |

no gun game? pick up a rep tool. links are more reliable because not everyone calls for help and everyone needs to spawn back in after dying. |

If you are not on a team then injectors are a waste. Links win. Learn to place them well and also upkeep them, moving them as necessary, i.e., pay attention to where they are and what threat exists to spawns at that location. Ambush is a great example of not only being smart about where to place them, but when to relocate them. Never put one at the smart spawn points. People spawn facing the direction you place them too so turn around and face the way people need to be facing so as not to get it in the back.
Death is a serious business. So is running a shoddy, half-baked game company.

yea the frontline default suits are trash... the most accessible fit for a new player to skill into is a gallente medium basic frame, 2 enhanced armor plates, 1 basic armor rep, and a breach AR. you'll have like 500hp. i was getting about 8 kills 3 deaths in pubs on this alt.. nothing spectacular but it was breaking positive kdr.. i prefer shield tank speed minassault fit with mass driver but it takes a lot of SP.
also there is dual armor repping but you need level 5 complex reps for it to be worth it.. dual repping fit tanks rifle weapons but is weak vs alpha weps like shotgun |

Depends.
A team with no uplinks loses every time.
But if your team already has a lot of links then yours won't make much of a difference.
Injectors can be great as well, un-doing all the work of a redberry's kill, but are tougher to use properly.
When a friendly goes down you need to first make sure the area is clear (with your gun), otherwise you and your patient will be instantly killed as soon as you pick him up. And before that happens the blue needs to hit his Call for Help button, which many never do.
The best place for an injector is when rolling with a squad you can communicate with, or with a specific person you're trying to support.
At the end of the day if you want to be a Logi you'll eventually want to spec into both anyways.

I would mainly use the drop uplinks , But if you have 2 amarr logis on your team spawning high quality uplinks everywhere then it is a waste of time and you should use the injector or Nanohive |

Obliv wrote:They seem to serve the same purpose in different ways. Which is better? I need WP but get killed every time I shoot at someone. Really depends on the match I would create multiple copies of the same suit but with different options of Nanite Injector, Drop Uplink, and Repair Tool.
When you get enough ISK and SP to pilot them, invest in the Logistical suits - see which racial has 2-3 slots and you can put one of each into them. If you are patient, you can also get enough LP to get a logi suit from the faction you previously researched.
For Ambush: Nanite Injectors and repair. For Non-ambush: Drop Uplink first choice followed by nanite injector.
Also, when you place the drop uplink, people spawn in the direction you faced when it was placed. So if you are facing a wall, they spawn facing the wall - which can be disorienting. So please, like others mentioned: place it facing away from the wall - or the direction you would prefer to spawn in. Sometimes you have no choice at the time - such a the old jump and toss method of getting the uplink onto a hard to reach place.
My Frontline Assault suit has a drop uplink. This is useful as it is a cheap suit to maintain and if placed wisely you can avoid losing the uplink for sometime. Once you die or you can get to a supply depot, you can change to your medic suit and revive/repair. The drop uplink will survive until you place another OR someone destroys it.
edit to add:
jane stalin wrote:I would mainly use the drop uplinks , But if you have 2 amarr logis on your team spawning high quality uplinks everywhere then it is a waste of time and you should use the injector or Nanohive Oh yes, and the Nanohive is also a great, though limited method, to get points.

I might get my racial logistics suit. I already have the required skills bought because of guessing. I was looking at the first suit and it has two equipment slots. Repair tool? Bombs? Ammo? |

Well that's a Medium suit, so pretty lighter! Trust me, when you're running around at 9 m/s with double your cardiac amounts, those uplinks come in handy for quick deploy for the heavies to the front. The needle's just nice for picking people up when there isn't a logi nearby.

I have graduated to a c-1 heavy frame and it's way better. I can actually live long enough to kill people. Still using a rail rifle. I got a mail calling me a Scrub. People get mad when you can fight back. |
