"Ruin has come to our family, You remember our venerable house Opulent and imperial, gazing proudly from its historic perch above the moor. I lived all my years in that ancient, rumour shadowed manor, Fattened by decadence and luxury.... And yet I began to grow tired of convention extravagance. Singular unsettling tales suggested the mansion was the gateway to some fabulous, and unnameable power. With relic and ritual I bent every effort to uncover those long buried secrets, exhausting our family's fortune on swarthy workmen and sturdy shovels. At last in the salt stained crags beneath the lowest foundations we unearthed that damnable portal...."
- Hastily scrawled letter addressed simply "To my Heir"
It is good to see you all gathered here. You all make a motley band of lost souls, blackguards, and servants of God and though it pains me to ask I fear I must. These lands are ruled over by an implacable and unspeakable evil originating from deep below the foundations of my Family's Ancient Ancestoral Home, rising up through these salt stained crags to pray on the people of the Moor.
You are here because of the fanciful rumours you have heard. Wealth. Fame. Relics of the Church. I can promise you none of these things but a meaningful death....for a cause much greater than we ever dared dream.
True evil lurks in those dank caverns beneath the Manor and I need people like you all to accompany me into their black heart to seal away the dark portal and drive the unending tide of horrors and abominations back into the Beyond before they see the light of day. We will be descending into the very stuff of nightmares, the realms of alien Gods with no concern for our very existences, and a deeply malign intent that might very well shatter our minds and drive us to madeness.
However we must press on. Those of you willing to accompany me sign this parchment, so that those who look upon it might remember our names even if our bone lie forgotten in the depths of the world.
We march on the morn...... to bring an end to the encroaching ruin.....into the Darkest Dungeon.
(( With that out of the way I am looking into buying early access pass for a small indy game called Darkest Dungeon, winner of PAX's Best Indie RPG and being developed by a friend of a friend. It is set in a heavily Gothic and Lovecratian themed world or rotting warrens filled with monsters and other eldritch horrors of malicious natures in the hopes of ending their terrifying reign before it begins.
I need brave people like you to volunteer to accompany me through its twisting hallways as well seek out fame, wealth, and possible our inevitable demise against unimaginable horrors. You are an assembled group of heroes and brigands from across the Moor including
-Bounty Hunters -Crusaders -Grave Robbers -Hellions -Highwaymen -Occultists -Plague Doctors -Vestals (Priestesses) -Jesters - and Lepers
You all have your own distinct personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Some of you fear the undead.....we shall surely encounter them in droves. Some of you are paranoid of your fellow colleagues. Some of your are steadfast and suicidally brave.
We need your traits if you are to assail the three (existing) Dungeons and their dozens of inhabitants. We many find any number of (+130) treasures, weapons, relics.
We will inevitably lose people.....and I shall chronicle their brave actions throughout the journeys and present them back here for future generations to see and learn from should we fall to Ruin and Despair.
I need you. All of you.
Who will join me on my first Darkest Dungeon Playthrough? If you are courageous enough post here and let me know your class and character name and we shall begin our journey tomorrow.))

Thank goodness. I thought I would have to face these eldritch horrors alone.
Just wait until the first part of our journey is done with. I shall post the results here.

((Well sure....but I'm pretty sure someone did it before him and that before them...... dunno. I know Denak and I did them early last year. This one is going to be a doozy though. I've played XCOM....maybe not long war which makes it harder but I've never run into a game like Darkest Dungeon where I have felt so utterly helpless and full of despair at every turn.
When I do the write up you will see what I mean...... I just have psychoses upon psychoses keep building up. First my Crusader became irrational talking about birds, eyes, and screaming about the poor child... then my Plague Doctor became selfish and wouldn't use his healing abilities. My Vestal slowly sunk into paranoia screaming about how everyone was out to get her and DISMAS...well **** him, he went and became claustrophobic, developed haemophilia, and apparently was banned from the brothel for his deviant tastes...... ))

It will...... if you live to see the tavern at the end of the job......or are still sane enough to enjoy material wealth.....
