Monetization isn't the problem. It's how they go about it. It's IN YO FACE. |

NOT REALLY, that is what they say. If it was a Free to play...or wait it should give a "X" amount of AURUM free to all player in a weekly basis (for example if you log in 5 days a week) as so many F2P games do. It doesn-¦t have to be a lot, for example enough so that in 52 weeks you can reach the respect pack in the market or something like that.
That way it will really be a Pay or Wait. |

No, it really doesn't matter. People will still complain that they're not getting enough free AUR.
Fact of the matter is that yes it's in your face. So are McDonalds ads every time I turn on the TV. Companies operate off of making money, and they do so through advertising and encouraging you to spend money, so they in turn can make money and pay their own bills. In a free to play game, there has to be a certain level of dissatisfaction in not spending money, otherwise you would have little reason to ever spend it. That being said *you will never be completely satisfied with the game unless you spend money* and it is in the company's best interest to continue to remind you of that so you do spend money.
Typically my rule for any game is "I want to spend about $1 for every hour of gameplay I get out of it, any time after that is just gravy". I mean **** people spend $10+ to see a 2-3 hour movie, for me $1 an hour for a game isn't a bad deal at all. So have I ever felt like I NEEDED to spend money on Dust? No not really, but I do because it does make the game more satisfying, and that's perfectly fine.

Your statement is subjective. I have spent money on this game and am terribly dissatisfied. I only did it in hopes that the developer would appropriately allocate the proceeds to improving the player experience. THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO.
There is a laundry list of unaddressed community requests and bugs to fix. CCP continues to ignore those problems and come up with new useless features. That's why people get on once ever 3 to 6 months to check for updates, find out that nothing is noteworthy and then take another leave of absence. |

Spending money doesn't guarantee satisfaction but not spending money guarantees some level of dissatisfaction.
