It's Pete's fault for going with the call, but it's Darrel's fault more so for making the call to pass when Beast Mode smelled Skittles, victory, and a walk off crotch crab.
As a 'Hawks fan, the only thing that lessens the pain is the fact that we Seahawks fans are very used to disappointment.
Tom Brady winning another title? There is no better proof that there is no God, and that cheaters do indeed prosper.

You have to admit, despite that bad call that had to have been one of the cleanest and closest superbowls in a long time. Both teams played well.

So disappointing when you realize the luck involved in the catch from Kearse at the 5.
Wilson should have just thrown it to the stands FFS.
I wish someone had gotten a camera on Brady when Kearse made the catch.
Would have enjoyed seeing the meme's (had history gone another way) of Brady's unfathomable tears after watching David Tyree round 2 happen.
But you gotta give it to the Pat's for scoring 2 TD's in the 4th quarter when the hawks had given up like a combined 12 points in the 4th quarter over the last like 8 games?!?!?
And to boot you knew he was gonna throw almost every time (I mean they had 40 rushing yards from Blount) much like he had against the Raven's and you still don't come up big!?
I know Lane went down...but still man..LoB let the 12th man down. They got exposed. 37 completions and 4 passing TD's...GG
I was happy to see the hawks luck finally run out (Packers fan here and we'd have loved another opportunity to beat the patriots again T_T )
But when you look at the statistics Lynch was like 30th of 39 running backs in % scoring from the 1 yard line...over the past 3 years he had like a 42% scoring percentage from the 1. So who knows even if they ran it without taking the timeout with 29 seconds left.

29 seconds...but context is important.
Lynch is the 3rd worst back since 2000 in scoring from the 1 yard line (in 5 attempts from the 1 yard line this year he had 1 TD) ...and not a single pass attempt from the 1 yard line had been intercepted the entire 2014 season.
I still would have given it to beastmode...but it wasn't the worst call of all time.
Wasn't any more gutsy than sean payton's onside kick potentially going wrong or even wilson's pass with 6 seconds left in the half which could have gone incomplete and left the seahawks down 7 into the 2nd half.

Actually the halftime play was the smartest call they made. 6 seconds left Wilson threw it from snap in 1.8 seconds and it reached the reciever with 2 seconds remaining. even if that was incomplete they would have still been able to kick a fieldgoal. Seriously the worst that could have happened on that play was a pick with a half remaining and the ball first.
Not giving it to Beastmode was the most terrible call of the year based upon how the game was going. Lynch was running it down their throats the whole game. Other then when Wilfork was unguarded and stopped him at the line Lynch would run over 2 people and make, would should have been a no gain into, 3 yards. Any time he got a hole and got to the line untouched he would break a 6+ yarder. 26 seconds a timeout and BeastMode means at least run a draw to catch them looking don't try and throw a quick pass from your quarterback who was getting lucky the whole game.
Huge Seahawks fan here but Wilson played awful he had so many balls that receivers had to make amazing plays just to give him completions. None of Seattle's passes were getting them anything. The kid that no one even knew was doing things the Calvin does for Stafford all season. A ground game that was tearing up the Pats or a passing game that was getting lucky all game long. Some time that luck has to run out. Seahawks left an unused timeout 23 seconds left on the board and 2 downs to take that risky play. It was heartbreaking to watch Seatlle's season end like that.
The worst part of it is its going to be another 10 years before they make it back there. Because now they have to rebuild another team. =( If they end up keeping Lynch and Wilson their going to be monetarily stressed to sign the players they want/need to keep a strong team. Lynch is going to most likely want 26mil (currently 7mil) a season and Wilson is going to get at least 10-16mil (currently 700k) on top of Sherman and Thomas' huge deals (highest paid players at their positions). I just don't see them getting back to the Superbowl next year.
The sadness is real for Seattle fans =( |

Well, I'm a Pats fan but, we got lucky.
Wilson not known for his throwing prowess and a super hot back on the three forced the Pats to stack the box which they did. Pete knowing that this would be the defensive formation called the proper and ingenious play, however Wilson muffed it and threw over the mid instead of outside where where int chances are much less.
Had the play worked, "it almost did except for a rookie who made a fantastic clean play on the ball" Pete would be a hero for calling the greatest play in a long time.
Watch the play again carefully and ask yourself why he would throw over middle in that situation when the box is already stacked?

Who said it wasn't smart? lol
I said it was gutsy...and that's a mighty fine hypothetical there Radar..I'm sure when the call came in as a pass they were planning for him to have 2 seconds left if he missed it..**** reading progressions or any number of other factors...amatuer.
lol he said lynch getting 26 mill a season...I think you're high.
And Wilson getting 10-16 mill a season?! are you wtf stupid? Wilson will get 20+ mill a year and he might just be the first QB to break 150 mill contract. Certainly he'll break Kaep's 126 mill deal from last year when the consensus is that Wilson and Luck are the 2 best young QB's in the league. He's a raw Steve Young FFS.
Yes the team will have to break the bank...and they will have to let some people walk not unlike when they let Browner, Clemons, Thurmond, Red Bryant and more go..probably Maxwell this season and GL to keeping Bennet. But they are still a super young team aside from Lynch. But the Seahawks have people step up and it'll be fine.
Seahawks are poised to be perennial contenders assuming Wilson continues to develop as opposed to Kaep and they get the same production out of Lynch as old as he's getting.
Also..it's close...but Sherman actually isn't the highest paid...Peterson is now and Revis will inevitably be making more after this season. 15 mill if he goes to the Jets or Bills (to chase Ryan) or just above what Sherman and Peterson make if he stays in NE to be keep chasing rings.
