"Instant boosters" are just regular boosters that are applied to the match at hand.
Before, you weren't able to apply a booster until you were back in your Merc quarters and so you lost some potentially boosted SP if you forgot to activate it. All the boosters are listed in the marketplace and vary based on the duration you buy.

So it could be a 1-day active booster? I just activate it there and then at the end of match, and it runs for the rest 24 hours?

The cheapest instant (EoM) booster is 400 AUR, each one gives and additional 100% SP (1st-100%, 2nd-200%, 3rd-300%) but the cost increases are not proportionate (ie. 3rd is not 3x cost of 1st, which would be 1200 AUR, it is 1500?).
These can only be bought at the EoM and are not activfe or passive, they're instant, so best used when you have a good game 10-20K SP unboosted. Only one can be bought per game (at EoM).
