As brought up by CCP Rattati in this thread CCP is wanting to stress-test the before and after effects of having multiple channels. While it's nice to have a few chat channels with you and handful of your buddies, it doesn't simulate the effects of having multiple high-profile channels.
With the PSD (see signature) in motion, the AIV is offering some support in on this but we need -your- help. So, we're going to -BAKE THE SYSTEM- by pouring into a custom channel and communicating through it. Constantly. Even during battle. About anything. We want to see just how far along this goes and whether or not the aforementioned channel can have an impact on your frame-rate. Most of you already have a lot of high-profile chat channels, so adding one shouldn't be too much of a pain.
PC Players, players who regularly run in full squads, etc are players I'm certainly interested in partaking in this test as they'll likely have the most impact from it. That being said, I would love it if you guys could give some information as to how it affects your gameplay overall in the comments. Video capture definitely helps and I will certainly be recording my gameplay before/after.
Remember, as a general rule, the more games you play - the harder it is on your system. PC Players reset before every major battle to refresh their system so doing a marathon play session without resetting is surely going to be tasking - which is exactly what we want.
Channel Name: VCOM LAG 1
But I don't expect anyone to work without reward. So, on behalf of the AIV, I'll be ponying up some freebie rewards based on milestones.
If we get 25 people in the channel, I'll offer up a $5 Aurum card to one random person. 50 people? $20 to two players ($10 each) 75 people? $40 to four players ($10 each) 100 people? $50 to five players ($10 each) 250 people? $100 to ten players ($10 each)
The event starts today and will last until February 10th, one week after the deployment of Warlords 1.0 release -AND- the end of the Encryption Key event. On February 10th, at a random time, I'll be determining random winners and you -MUST- be in channel in order to be considered for the reward. Rewards will be based on the amount of players currently in channel at the time of drawing. My apologies if you are not in channel at the time but this is something I can't be flexible on.
You are free to leave the channel on Wednesday, February 11th, and report any effects here after the event. Better? Worse? We won't know until you speak up!
Happy Hunting!
