So we all know that LAV's LAV's are trying to be off road vehicles when in reality they handle like sports cars. This imo should be changed. But how should they be changed? This question bothered me since I wondered this question a solid 3 years ago (Yes, they have been this bad for THAT long). I think I finally found the answer.
See, there's this game that came out a couple months ago, you probably heard of it, it's called The Crew. Now, you're wondering, "What does a street racing game have to do with off road vehicles?". Well, if you knew anything about The Crew, you would know that isn't the case. For those who don't know, you can customize most vehicles in a wide way to suit your needs in a verity of ground types, including rough terrain (like rocks and dirt, **** even deep powder). Most vehicle types can't really handle these ground types, except two, one in particular that I want them to handle like: Dirt (not it), and Raid (what I'm focusing on).
Raid Spec vehicles handles like a proper off road vehicle should. It tries to stick to the ground, and stays level to the ground, it keeps up speed when gover over small hills and other obstacles, things along that nature. They could have better turning abilities at higher speeds like current LAV's do, but otherwise, they are pretty much better in every way.
Want a example? Here.

So...what you're saying is the LAV needs Mass and Torque enough to climb hills? (Oh, and not to blow up when dropping over a 2 ft drop)

They need bigger wheels, that's all. The current ones are so tiny... the smallest pothole sends you flying for the moon.

I believe that when they nerfed the LLAV, they did something with how vehicles react to the terrain, making them only drivable on roads. I could be wrong, but if Im right I believe that this change should be reverted, as av is in a realllly good place, maybe op a bit

It would certainly be nice to be able to drive over a pebble without flipping over twenty seven times... Or at least be able to drive up a two degree incline. |

No, I'm saying that
1: They need to not lose control over small bumps in the road
2: Yes, that's one of them
3: They shouldn't do flips when flying through the air.
4: They shouldn't simply flip if you turn it hard enough (happens).
Stuff like that.

Bigger wheels don't solve the fact that the mass and suspension is akin to that of a sports car, not a off road vehicle, but bigger wheels would help. I think LAV's in general (model wise) needs a redesign. Everything is too open.

Perhaps there should be different clipping variables for the wheels and the chassis? Wheels get a range of height for clipping the environment while the chassis is set at a specific height above the tires. This way the tires actually touch the ground and the chassis "logically" floats atop the wheels.
Looking at the in-game models of the LAVs, the suspension systems suggests these vehicles are not geared for off-roading or rallying. It's just a cart with an above average floor clearance

So you're askimg for bigger suspensions? A whole chassis and wheel upgrade? Not bad. I'd love to see this on a Min LAVs

Fixed (that S wasn't needed), and more mass to the LAV (they flip too easy), but otherwise, yes.
I'd also like them to not be so open, seeing as it's so easy to shoot people out of them.

Current LAV"s appear to have very little or even no suspension whatsoever, clearly making them ON road vehicles.
Even if they are not intended as off road vehicles they should get a bit more suspension, so that bumps on the road don't flip you over.
It would be cool if the Min LAV was a very bouncy dune buggy. And perhaps the amarr LAV could hover? Then we would have on road and off road LAV's.

It's silly to think that a military vehicle wouldn't be good as a off road vehicle, specifically where's little roads that goes anywhere useful in this game.

What it really needs is locked differentials and low end torque. The very basic concept of any offorad vehicle, is that is 4WD system gets you moving as long as 1 wheel has traction. |

I'm still wondering why they went with such a design of a sports car.
