I request a Alarm sound when you start leaving the map. Some Speech would be even better. Like: "Leaving the Battlefield is not tolerated as stated in your contract... Self destruction in 3... 2... 1..."
Also when he/she is doing this another time, the voice should simply say. "You have leaved the Battlfield. Self destruction in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1..." This would give the gamer the feeling that there is a reason why there is a border on this map.
Example: Selfdestruction
Additional Ideas by other Gamers:
from: Carrier Class Thanatos -Dont using the Color red. Could be misunderstood that someone getting shot. A good idea would be to use the color of the based Dropsuit that you are wearing, as example: Gallente = Green, Amarr = Gold/Yellow, Caldari = Blue and Minmatar = Red/Black.
from: Bzeer -Using instead the soft faded to red border of the map. A harder candystripe like. So the visability is better esepcially usefull for Pilots.
from:Oposum (Me) -Let Aircrafts be able to fly a little bit outside the border of the map to turn arround.
If you think thats a good/important Request plz Press Like. |

the current warning system for leaving the area is almost unnoticeable. making the warning bigger and bold stating "LEAVING THE BURN ZONE" would be nice and prevent unnecessary death and loss of assets.
but it all depends on the maps that are at play. right now the maps are narrow and linear, but thats up for dusscussion on a different thread, so its easy to see where to go and where not to go.
all in all, change the warning to make it more of a....."warning" |

Me either. Well actually one time. But the first time i was like "Wait what is this countdown for?!... DAMN" *Try to run back as fast as he can and praying to make it in time... DEAD*
And yeah, make it also bolder would be great. Maybe the whole screen could turn into a red alert like signal. So if you are with me, press Like ;) |

Perhaps pulsing red edges on the screen, and an audible warning from Aura, along with a 3-5 second timer would be sufficient. |

In my mind, it should be kinda look like this:
Selfdestruction Countdown
Like Erebisius sayd. A window is popoing out showing the countdown and a pulsing warning signal. Aura is also saying that you are doing something wrong ;).

Any kind of auditory warning would be nice. Maybe that womans voice saying something about leaving the engagement area or something. A count down is another interesting idea. |

I AGREE, and SUPPORT it. Maybe a more clear nuetral zone before the outofbounds mark, instead of the slow fade to red, a candystripe/red/black hard line... for increased visability. The slowfade makes it harder to see where outofbounds actually begins, and if you're fighting near it, or worse in a fast moving but not-so-agile vehicle, you'l fly much further into it than you'll be able to come out of it... and well that's when you die by accident. |

@Carrier Class Thanatos: It's true, red could be missunderstood with getting shot. So maybe it should/could change to base on the Dropsuit youa re wearing.
So Amarr (Heavy) would be Gold/Yellow, Caldari (Assault) Blue, Gallente (Scout) Green and Minmatar (Logistic) Orange with kinda black. idk how the Command Dropsuit will be look like but this could be maybe white? :) |

+1 to the "leaving the battlefield is not allowed by contract self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"
And make the text big and red and flashing.
Its easy to miss it as it is now, especially when focusing on killing someone. |

I love to see that many people are with me, and i love even more that some people are coming up with additional ideas to improve this even more.

I lost my first dropship ever to this issue. I luckily didn't have it fitted or anything, so a 25,000 ISK loss only (plus dropsuit, but I think I was 100% militia on that anyway)
Gladly I didn't have any passengers in expensive gear, or prototype weapons/modules. I just launched, and was watching the battlefield, and the module, when all of a sudden BOOM.

Yeah it seems to be that this is happening to new people often. Especially when it's theyr first tiem flying a Dropship. Anyway, i would suggest that Pilots could fly a little bit more outside then the usuall ground people. Like in Battlefield but not THAT much, just a little bit so they can turn arround or something like that. |

Yeah ill bump this, sometimes the restricted areas dont even appear red on minimap (or do they just not appear like that at all anymore), the soundbyte would definitely help out. |

I agree with you! I remember Nanofield attempting to deploy a vehicle outside the map... Both of us never noticed the countdown until there were like 6 seconds left. I was lucky to be more inside the map, Nanofield was all the way at the other side...

Yes! I lost a tank following a road, and several dropships while in 3rd person view without even noticing the border. Even running on the ground I get deep ino the red before noticing and trying desperately to find the shortest way back.
I suggest a sloping border that goes out a bit more the higher you fly, much like the airspace protection you receive on an instrument approach. That would help mitigate the difficulty of knowing your exact position over the ground when you' re so far removed from it. |
