Calmando is actually better at long range skirmishing than sniping. Stay about 90m from an outside point with a RR and destroy.
Minmando is great for AV yes, especially against dropships (I would rather use a forge against tanks still.) I would say it is even better at area denial though. I dont always get a lot of kills when I run my AMD/CR fit, but the point will always be clear of red dots.
The amarr is great for camping high points with a laser, thats about it.
The galmando is horrible for shotgun. Why would you even do that? Grab a TAR/Breach and stick just behind the pushing line.
Commandos are DPS support and area denial. If people would quit using them like assaults, they would realize they are really good suits that just need a little bit of love to be competitive.

Scouts are the best TacSnipers, and Tanked Sentinel ak.0's or Assault ak.0's are the best with every other sniper rifle, granted they're in the redline.
Please buff my Magsex. It doesn't hit hard enough...

I've tried them all with varying levels of success. The one I will stick with and enjoy playing with on one of my alts, is Minmatar with BK-42 and RS-90 equipped - combat rifles are maxed out, commando is level 3.
Second is Amarr with a laser.
You are right about the Gallante, much more success with an assault rifle on an assault frame.
Skilled out of Caldari commando at the earliest opportunity and use the rr on an assault too. Its more mobile haha. |

Are you joking? You're probably one of those fools that sits in the redline perfectly still. Outside of the redline, there is no other suit I rather snipe in than my Calmando. Not only does one of my Kaalakoitia Tactical Sniper bullets do over 320 damage, but my RR rips heavies to shreds.

That's funny because Amarr Assault is 2x better are laser rifling. No only does the proto Amarr Assault have 3 high slots to negate the 1 high slot and 10% damage the Amarr Commando does, but the assault also has a heat reduction letting you fire much longer.

People scream the ScR is OP and the Amarr commando adds a very nice damage bonus. While suit wise it definitely lacks the damage ability it brings to the table with any Amarr weapon is great. |

I wouldn't say twice as good. They really are about the same in damage. The assault can just hold it for longer (I know heat makes it hit harder.) The advantage the 'mando has over the assualt is that it can carry a CR or RR to balance out the **** damage lasers do to armor, whereas the 'sault is stick with a short-range subby or magsec.

Been having a blast with my Ammando + laser + acr. All STD. not as good a suit as the assault but more fun IMO.

Sounds about right. If I'm remembering correctly, Commandos have extremely good offensive capabilities and are second rate to the heavies in defenses, but like heavies they aren't that mobile. This is actually perfect classing. If Commandos were better assaults than assaults, as everyone likes(liked?) to claim there would be no use for assaults. Their weakness in mobility make them extremely vulnerable in battle. What you need for assaulting is a healthy balance of offense, defense, and mobility.
