I posted about LAVs needing work, and I thiught I might throw out my ideas as well for dropships.
First and for most, tweak them in everyday possible. I will let pilots complain below. I suggest increasing shields on myron, increasing speed/maneuverability on incubus and grimsnis, and stabilizing the turrets on all dropships to move with the vehicle. This should apply to all vehicles as well.
Moving on.
I posted about LAVs and turrets on my lav post and realized that if the change the way I said, dropships will as well benefit greatly.
Missle turrets are somewhat ok on them currently. I dont feel the need to adjust them to greatly, just need a bigger splash radius and damage to be effective across all vehicles. Personally, they should keep their current direct damage and just increase the splas to be even better at ai. Rail turrets against need more damage and slower rof for av. Dropships will also be able to destroy HAVs and LAVs effectively.
FINALLY, blasters.
Blasters are probably the hardest to fix as they should be made to be effective on air to ground without being op in ground to ground. My suggestion is to increase the damage and range on them. That would make them better to use on assault dropships. (They will still suck for ads as missles are the best but they should at least try to work). More range and damage will be good for dropships, but op on LAVs. To that, increase the rof and heat build up so that it can function somewhat like a burst hmg, raining down bullets while overheating quickly to prevent spam. FINALLY, slightly increase disperation to improve its effectiveness in the air by sgooting rounds over a larger area, while making it harder to hit targets on LAVs.

I don't think you can make blasters work well on air vehicles, without making them OP on ground vehicles, because they're already pretty bad ass on LAV's and especially on tanks (where you have so much time to pew pew, while getting shot at.)
Missiles don't need any buffs, I've been running a CRU-Bus with 3 std missile turrets & even though I'm just letting randoms in (which usually ends in tears) when 1 or 2 people know what they're doing and how to aim (don't ask me how, I suck with side turrets) the ship will last a whole match of being hounded by multiple AV.
If you buff splash to allow anyone to hit targets with it, then the infantry will have no chance to escape at all... It'll be like dropships vs swarms, but with no lock on timer.
changing the direction the turrets face would be interesting (in my oppinion.) Some might hate it because they're used to the current method. But in my experience, it pisses people off when I maneuver to dodge something and all the turrets end up facing the wrong direction, no matter how much they try to turn it. |

I think Small Blasters do need a buff, however I think balancing them around the usual range of a dropship will be too much of a range buff. I think it's fine if some small turrets are better suited for ground vehicles, and others for air vehicles. For example, while useful, Small Missiles don't perform nearly as well on an LAV or HAV as they do on a dropship. It's much harder to readily make use of their splash damage when the enemy is on equal or higher footing, but far easier if the target is below you.
So buff Small Blasters? Totally. Make them very useful on dropships? Probably not, at least no in typical situations.
