So I took a starter GA fit and outrigged it with 2 compy kincats (+ PG Upgrade) and a MLT shotgun and it's fairly effective at the wait-and-pounce game
I can't necessarily get behind everyone but the whole sprint and jumping thing works out pretty well, a little crazy/suicidal but hell its a militia fit.
Mostly I'd just stick along a cluster of objects and watch my prey and tempt it with the ion pistol. Hiding and switching to the shotgun and my level 5 purity in eWar lets me do this a little better but mostly I could get the pounce off of most mediums and always the heavies.
I remember the shotgun twins Annie and Calamity used the Type II Caldari Assaults.
On a side note, I just started getting the hang of the Ion pistol and while it's nothing compared to the ScP it was a pretty fun little gun and had that charge kick for finishing the tougher redberries

Aaaaah... The Type II...
That was an awesome suit for the shotty. More HP so you can stack on other mods.

Min Assault+shotgun is more OP than scout with SG ever was.
My best PC ever (20/2, 1438 WP) was in a Min Ass with a SG.

Anything with a shotgun is fun. Assault-wise, I tend to favor the Caldari and Minnie Assaults. I'm curious to see what the Gallente Assault bonus would do to the SG.
What can be really fun and surprising to some people is to run a Logi with a SG in CQC maps.
And as a Scout, I hate SG Sentinels with the heat of a thousand burning suns. |

I run kincats and damps on quite a few of my medium suits, comped with my max passives you can mindfreak people quite easily.

Lightning played when the meta wasn't "stack HP on a sentinel, spin in a circle, and hold down R1". When he played, the HP values were significantly lower, and passive scans weren't a thing.
Back then, pure speed tanking was viable, and worked.
Nowadays, you need HP and dampening to survive.
Its sad really.
