Having played Dust 514 for about a year and a half, I can genuinely say I've had a lot of fun with this game. Its been off and on of course because some expansions have come out (1.7/1.8) that practically ruined this game and then more expansions (1.9/1.10) which were said would never come but then. I'm thankful they did and I'm thankful for the roadmap and all the work CCP does.
I'm still disappointed at the Speedy Gonzalez tanks and the uselessness of the Packed RE's that do zero damage or the existence of cloaks in this game. But I'm not here to gripe about things in the game that don't suit me, I'm here to ask a question.
Think about video games and how much fun they are. Think of how amazing they will be in the future and let your heart fill up with joy. What kind of games will we have in the future? Will CCP still be around in the future?
If you look at the scope of MMORPG's such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Trek Online, World of Warcraft and even your own EVE: Onlne. These games all attempt to do the same thing but completely fail. Immersion. The biggest selling point of any video game is immersion.
A video game in 2015 should play out like a novel reads. Lets take Dust 514 for example...this game is pointless. Its the same run and gun experience as Call of Duty. None of the district changes in Factional Warfare or PC really affect EVE in a capacity that anyone can see or feel. It makes fighting in FW just an isk and time sink because there are very few benefits to reap.
That is a place where immersion fails.
Imagine if when you signed up for Dust 514 you were welcomed with a little video and given tasks by Aura. (EVE Online's VI) and you still had your daily goals but when you signed up to fight for the Gallente or Amarr or Caldari or Minmatar, you felt a sense of pride. You could exit your merc quarters and explore a compound with relics of the past. Everything from statues to history books to holoreels (like in EVE) that can be watched or read like newspapers.
If you had a goal it would be amazing...being able to transition between EVE and Dust/Legion would be amazing. Look at Destiny. Destiny was ambitious and they tried so so so hard to immerse their players in their world but ultimately failed because you run the same missions in the same places with different bosses and you get crap gear, crap rewards that your stuff is likely already better than and they failed with Destiny.
Watch the news, learn what events are out there...lets say Amarr is terrorizing the galaxy. What are the Minmatar going to do about it? Caldari is terrorizing the universe, what are the Gallente going to do about it?
In EVE online there is CODE. CODE is pretty lame in my opinion BUT the notion and the act of what they and James 315 do/did is amazing. Imagine if we had New Eden politicians, an election system within the gaming world much like the CPM's. You could get close to a politician and backstab them, blackmail them, pad their pockets. You could be a hero, a villain and it actually matter.
What will the future look like for CCP? Imagine the money you'd make if you could make each of us feel like we were citizens in New Eden. James 315 would be able to be murdered in the station, people would have to watch their backs...James 315 would have to go full on Shadow Broker like in Mass Effect and stay in that ship off the grid but run EVERYTHING.
My question for you Rattati, is will we ever have full working immersion in this game? Will we ever get to actually BE in New Eden via PC/PS4/XBOX ONE or whatever future consoles or PC's are invented or created? |

I agree with the general notion that the lack of meaningful impact and global (or rather galactical) persistence makes the game feel extremely shallow, especially as a role player. But come on,

Why are the Caldari and Amarr the ones terrorizing the galaxy and Gallente and Minmatar the saviors? Please
Anyways, you have an EVE News website that puts out articles fairly regularly
http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/
Now imagine if CCP set up special contracts in the special contracts tab 23/7 between at least two NPC corps that appear in the news and then we pick sides and whenever the guys you have hired to write these articles feel like putting in another, they look to the data results and base the outcome on that. And allow us to read these articles in game. This would make even the average player feel more like an actual person in the universe.

I agree with you completely. However, look at the link...what's the first thing you see?
" The Directive Enforcement Department has recently completed initial investigations into the Sleeper drones designated as "Circadian Seekers" and concluded that they are in the process of adapting to perceived threats."
That didn't actually happen. It doesn't exist. Its some crap an employee of CCP wrote on a web site. But what if you were head of the Directive Enforcement Department, Aero? What if you appointed players, hired players, whatever to complete those initial investigations into the sleeper drones?
See what I'm saying? That's what I am curious about. All these companies build these worlds but continually fail in the immersion department lol
I just really like Dust and EVE but I cancelled my EVE subscription because the game is boring and there's nothing to do but PVP in lowsec or nullsec or mine...that's it. That's the entire game. But there is so much potential!!! |

CCP Rattati should acknowledge this post by simply putting a tiny x in the comment section below. Something so simple just to let us know that your always there lurking in the shadows, paying close attention.
I'm a try-hard, because half my team sits in the MCC.

I saw that someone asked him if he felt it was rude to be called out and he said as long as it was insightful or funny he doesn't mind so I thought if I made this post he might tell us all something.
I mean really it would be a difficult topic for him to talk about, but he seems like he really cares about this game and he really wants it to succeed. I really want CCP to take EVE, Dust, Legion, Valkyrie and make it the juggernaut it could be.
I'd pay hand over fist for a game like that. |

Way Of The Merc video (can't link it because my post becomes unreadable for some reason but search it up) used to play for new players right after creating their character, just before loading up into your merc quarters. But they took it out for some reason (and I believe its because it used closed beta footage and mentioned us destroying drones which is still not a thing in the game)
A new and better tutorial system explaining PG/CPU and each race's suit fighting style (I still see Caldari Assaults trying to out CQC my Gallente Assault) and so on.
Explaining the weapon damage profiles and how FW works.
This would help keep more players interested in the game until they realize if the New Eden Universe is for them or not.
Changes to Damage mods!

Definitely Occulus rift support and absolutely HOTAS for Valkyrie.
But Fiend, humor me. Imagine a game where you can sit in your favorite chair at home, load up a CCP game video your PC/Console and sit back and get lost. You walk into a corridor, real time voice support with smart sonics..the further you are from a character, the lower the volume and the closer you get the more it goes up.
Imagine a market place where you can walk up to a vendor...say you, Dust Fiend. You're playing as a vendor today (like a flea market) and you're selling your wares. I walk up like hey what up Dust Fiend and you're like hey Michael Epic! What's up man? I'm like not much dude, but I need some dropsuits today and you're like coming right up my man, that'll be X isk and I'm like sweet thanks man and I credit your account and then I get the dropsuits.
It would give the game a more personal feel, a more community feel....we'd all be emotionally invested and totally immersed. That would be a game worth paying for. That would be a game worth waiting for. |

That would be great! Imagine if we could sit on the couch and play the tutorial videos via the holoreels! It would be cool to see toon versions of CCP employees or community voted players that were cast in the video for tutorials. We could watch our fellow faction specific players explain to us how to beat our enemies!
If they amped this game up in the best way possible...IGN would review it. People would flood to it. There would be enough players here to faction. You choose Caldari? You fight for the Caldari...BUT you have the option to become a pirate if the Caldari isn't your cup of tea or you want to betray them to the Gallente.
EVE Online, Dust 514, Valkyrie and Legion have potential....just need some serious revving up. They need to build a world...a universe, a galaxy. CCP Games needs to be a living breathing entity of its own and its catalog could be the most legendary catalog in gaming history.
Who wouldn't want that? Honestly if I had the money..I'd hire every game developer I could and build a game like that because a game like I'm trying to describe in these posts would be a license to print money, more or less. |
