I saw a player run around a corner at me and there were two of him-an exact duplicate separated by about 20cm.
South America is just as big a problem as Europe or Asia.
CCP's moving the battle servers into Amazon's AWS cloud may help. Amazon has a South American region. Mexico and southwestern US Northwestern US and Western Canada Southeast US NorthEast US and easterfn Canada Western Europe Eastern Europe Africa Asia is split Ausie's and micronesia
Hopefully we'll get scotty get it straight.
keep the campaign alive!

That way, if for some reason you do want to play on a different server you have the option to do so, but only if your internet is good enough to do so without inducing lag. Most people who complain are people fr the US and Canada who don't want to play against Brazilians and Argentinians, but they don't have a South American Server. There's only the American Server.
Even if CCP region locks they will still need to look at hit detection, because it is broken. People who have communal WI-FI, i.e older apartment and condo communities, college dorm, dsl on bad copper, would still need tweaking.
CCP should include a connection certification applet in the game. Passing would place a certificate on your PS3/PS4, and would qualify you for higher levels of competition-levels that outcomes have risk/reward. It would be the gold standard so CEO's can at least know their guys have a fair fight.
It would also let players know that they have issues with their ISP's.
This implementation would set DUST apart and above any AAA FPS game. |

AWS is stupid expensive. The latency isn't usually on CCP. It's the lack of regional servers. I hate it as much as the next guy, but do we need to fragment our small playerbase moreso than it already is?
CCP already announced it, and it's SONY's network on AWS.
Did you think CCP hosted their servers?
AWS is on-demand so the creation of regional servers is a network software not a hardware issue.
Yes, this game is going to die, because high latency is a cancer.
I think that DUST by geographical regions should be overlayd on the eve map.
Yes, it would seperate people and fracture some squads and corporations, but it would be best for DUST, we players and CCP.

I am certain that the new matchmaking does not take into heavy account your ping. So it does put you against people with similar skills, from all over the world. But the server must be 1 and only 1. So it may happen that you play a match where Europeans rules because of the server, other matches where they get wrecked always because of the server (Planetary Conquest Style).
(I also have seen you countless times playing on EU battle server, are you sure there's nothing wrong with your ISP?) I have mine set to Americas only. Unless you seen me in facwf . I swear, I have seen you and some from your corp many times on EU, and I'm fairly sure it was EU battle server and no, I usually don't play in factional warfare.
You may have seen one of his clones. |
