No. This argument is stupid. Pronunciation of acronyms have nothing to do with the words that they are made from.
Meanwhile, any educated member of the Internet is well aware that the creator has explicitly stated the correct pronunciation.
The only people who insist on the hard G are people who never heard it spoken aloud, decided how it sounded, and then refuse to accept correction by people who know better.

And just like every other new word that has ever existed in the English language, pronunciation is dictated by popular opinion. Not whatever the creator of the word/object says. If most people pronounce it gif with a hard g, that's how its pronounced, and that's just how language works.
With that other logic, I could make a word that is spelled "oilbuckler" but is pronounced "deepchastice", and nobody could say anything about it.
