A small missile launcher variant that will have a lock on mechanism similar to SLs on vehicles, however as a result of this it will not lock on to infantry of course and will do reduced damage to infantry. This is to make Pythons more effective as tank hunters, were not Pythons intended to destroy vehicles from above as well as infantry?

I like the idea, but I still wish we had counter measures. It would make the lock-on missile mechanic more fun for both sides.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Almost but I wanted to make it less like that in the sense it will be single fire, but have a lot less lock on time, I would estimate about a 0.5 charge time.

Tanks are among the easiest thing to hit in a dropship.
If we're going to make an AV turret, all it should improve on is missile speed and slightly more range (250 optimal/ 300 falloff, though why a missile has falloff is beyond me), with more direct damage and virtually no splash. This makes targeting fast moving enemies (LAVs and Dropships) much easier and limits its ability against infantry (though direct hits still work, like rails) while still requiring some skill to use *coughswarmscough*.

i think a vehicle mounted SL could become a little too op. the main downside to the infantry SL's is a vehicles ability to easily take down infantry or for the vehicle to get away from the SL (and also the frustration of us AV'ers)
i just think that DS/ADS pilots need to work better with their gunners. when the pilot is throwing the DS left and right, ducking and weaving you can't hit jack s**t with a missile, they just go in any direction they want. pilots need to realize that for a gunner to hit anything they need to stay more stabilized and perhaps introduce a 'hover' function (think of the rocket belt in pilotwings) in order to quickly bring the DS to a standstill, get a few rounds off and then they can dash off when swarms/forge rounds come'a'flying

i think this obviously wouldnt be a vehicle mounted SL - lower burst DPS but more sustained DPS. I honestly see these useful for dogfighting in DSs or firing while on the move.
Also, one thing i want to draw attention to is how idiot - proof these things would be - simple enough that even a blueberry can fire from a dropship and do something! |

That's the thing, it isn't just a vehicle mounted SL which is a common disclaimer, it's just a regular old small missile launcher with an added feature that allows you to lock on to vehicles, and vehicles only not infantry because that is op. And a hover feature would be so amazing.

Assault Dropships can fly directly above an HAV and the HAV, aside from getting out and shooting the dropship on foot, has no counter. I don't see how this is necessary for Pythons to kills HAVs.

To be honest i would like to have a swarm launcher which can only be fitted onto LAV's. That would be the ultimate guerillia style for going AV. Make it LAV only cause if you could fit that onto a dropship or a tank then way too many people would abuse that.
Bright is the opposite of dark! Who would have thought of that?!
