Im gonna just say it: the kill/assist system is broken. And what i mean by broken, is that the same system that works for CoD, Battlefield etc. doesnt work for dust. Time and time again ive dealt 99% of the damage to kill the enemy, but then some random ass blueberry shoot the guy once and gets the kill.
This is an even bigger issue with installations. With installation destruction being a common mission, i rarely complete it. I hammer a turret installation to 200 armor and start to reload, blueberry sneak in and takes the kill, leaving me VERY pissed.
I know we have all gone trough this, and i think it has to be fixed.
Me and my friend came up with this: Make it a % based kill reward. The player who dealt the most damage gets the most points the full 50 and the rest get the assist of 25. Im sure some of you are going to say "But i shot the killing bullet, i should get the kill." To which i say add a "Killing shot" point of 5-10, as in even if you didnt deal most damage, you still get 5 extra points for killing him/her on top of the assist.
In short: - deal most damage: 50 wp - deal less damage: 25 wp - fired the killing shot: 5-10 wp on top of the ones above (killing shot should still count as an assist) |

Amarr/Minmatar vehicles are OP (especially Minmatar speed tanks)

Loadout has already solved this. You get an equivalent % of the points comparable to the % of the damage dealt.

What about those times when you run away to avoid your own death and then a short time later a random picks off the weakened opponent? Do you deserve a K, a +50, having run with tail between legs? Or when the red kills you first and random blue finishes him off; do you still get +50 having lost that fight?
It's like in basketball; when you put up a shot that doesn't go in and a teammate then puts it on off the rebound, who gets credit for the two points? You did most of the work putting it near the net, should you get the credit?
I used to think as the OP, but now I don't know. I get kills stolen all the time, but I steal just as many in return so it evens out I guess.
How about this: WP go to whoever dealt most damage but the K goes to the finisher.

I'm okay with having my kills stolen, as it usually means I'm having my rear end saved.
Also, how would this percentage stuff work out when dealing with a Sentinel being repped by a logi?
I think it's best to keep things how they are.

I just hate how I take my time and effort to bring an enemy down to like 50 armor only to have a goddamn blueberry shoot at him with a bolt pistol or any alpha weapon instantly killing my enemy.
Yeah, fuck people that steal kills when the enemy has way less HP than me.

Personally I think that we should get kills assigned more like in Eve. Everyone gets the "kill" and the WP for the kill gets divided among all involved parties according to the percentage of damage that they inflicted. There should also be bonus WP for both "Final Blow" and "Top Damage".
Also, kills should only be counted once the clone is terminated (maybe give an "Incapacitation" worth 25 WP once the clone is downed and then the other 25 WP for the kill on the termination both divided among all involved parties).

a simple solution would be to allow kill credit to apply to all persons focusing fire within x number of seconds.
that way the warpoint reward might be less, but for mission completion and for the people stat tracking you're not getting screwed over by killstealing blue dots constantly.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

Get rid of KDR and kills.
your points score should be based on total WP and not KDR metrics,
Capture PvP damage and score it, and then add it to support WP and sum it.
problem solved.
