The French are not the type to let things like this keep them down for long. It's not especially about charlie hebdo, it's about freedom of speech. They didn't just killed 12 people. They attacked the very heart of freedom. This slogan is a way to show that they may have try to kill our freedom by killing Charlie hebdo. But we all defend this freedom, we are this freedom that's why we say we are Charlie.

Attacking a newspaper IS attacking freedom of speech.
When I say "our freedom", it's because France has always been a symbol of liberty throughout history. I dont think this kind of attack would've had the same impact in any other country. You don't seem to understand that it's ALL about freedom of speech..
This newspaper was particularly well known for beeing against all rules, for beeing sarcastic against everybody and no matter who or what it was.

This newspaper was particularly well known for beeing against all rules, for being sarcastic against everybody and no matter who or what it was. In the last 200 years you mean? Either way you are right, the France historically is an example of one of the great democracies of the world. And yes I do know the background on Charlie Hebdo. News coverage of the incident has been very detailed. Regardless there's no point in arguing about it. It was more a way to make people uderstand why this subject is so important. Not only because 17 innocent people were killed, but because of what they represented..
