Ok kids, let's get started. I've neglected to upgrade my weapon reload speeds in any of my weapons, basically 'cos I love flying Dropships and playing RTS protecting my uplinks. Anyway, I noticed some of my fittings would seem to smooth out my dropship flying, so I specced into different suits, like scouts, to see if I could get it any smoother. No deal, but some fittings still made me fly smoother, so I stuck with them. Any'Ho, 2 years later I decided to max out my Mass Driver to keep my uplinks protected... And Lo and Behold, my entire game seemed to get really smooth. Flying included.
THAT is why some people seem to move ridiculously fast. The animation speed of the reload skill speeds up, and smooths out movement. NOW BE CAREFUL... I don't want to change a thing with the game. This is a 'Better the Devil you already know!' mechanic. There is no need to remove the Reload Speed skill. BUT... To prevent your game from desynching, remove any weaponry from any fittings you have THAT YOU ARE NOT going to upgrade the Reload Speed skill for.
I changed to a fitting with a plasma cannon, with Reliad Speed skill zero, and my game crashed. So I put on a Mass Driver at Reload Speed 5 and you guessed it, super smooth. It does not cost much Skillpoints to upgrade to level 2, so do it the weapons you are using, BUT (again) REMOVE THE WEAPONS you have at level zero. They will make you clunky. AND BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SIDEARMS AND HEAVY WEAPON Reload Speeds,also.
I want feedback on this. Let us know if you crash less, and if your entire game is smoother, vehicles included ... And pass it on! |

What would reload speed have to do with strafing? |

This smells of tinfoil.

I thought you were going to say it wins gunfights cause if the both of you have the same weapons, but you have points in reload and he doesnt you win.
Actually more interesting then i expected.

I had 1.7m sp lying around so I decided to try this. It's completely BS as you might imagine. I had my all of my reload skills at zero and tested them before and after. No change, congrats if you're a troll you just made me waste sp you've won. Not a 100% waste but still. |

Me? Troll?.. Ok, yes, but only Ingame. Yes, that's a word now...Ingame. I am not trolling now and I never troll when I think that this will really improve the game with synching issues. I haven't crashed once since I removed my weapons with zero reload speed. I'll let you know when I do. Now, I didn't say you will kill more or die less, but I am having a much smoother experience, and those 'indestructible' dudes who never seem to die and run 'TO' an enemy squad are now dying in ambush games. So hopefully someone believes me. Time will tell, but give more feedback, please. I have personally had a much smoother experience. I'm now putting all my skills into Reload Speed for my favorite weapons. It's actually a nice skill to have. That's why I think the better players didn't even notice, because they already had it. But yeah, I'd like to know if people are crashing less, also.
Here's a quick test. Put on Nova Knives, they have no Reload Speed skill, so it's maxed. Put them on a clunkyish fit you had, and let me know if the framerate does not seem smoother. I'm talking about graphics smoothness speed here. Enjoy |

This doesn't make any sense. How does having a faster animation cause the game to not stall? If anything a faster one would be more likely to make the game stall. But the difference in speed of reload is next to absolutely nothing.
15% reduction at max level means: * Rail Rifle: 3.2 -> 2.72 * Scrambler Rifle: 2.5 -> 2.125 * Plasma Rifle: 3 -> 2.55 * Combat Rifle: 2.6 -> 2.11 * Shotgun: .6 -> .51 (Breach 1.3 -> 1.05) * Laser Rifle: 4 -> 3.4 * Plasma Cannon: 3.5 ->2.975 * Sniper Rifle: 4 -> 3.4 * Swarm Launcher: 4.5 -> 3.825 * Heavy Machine Gun: 8 -> 6 * Forge Gun: 5 -> 3.75
I highly doubt that 500 millisecond difference in speed will make the game run smoother. Jeez, these numbers have me questioning the point of Rapid Reload in most cases.

Hmmm, you might be right. I think I'm taking credit for CCP's hard work at keeping a game playable internationally. I'm sure they're tweaking stuff as we go along. But yeah, I've done these things I've mentioned above, and I haven't frozen or crashed since then, and it's playing really nicely. If anyone has freezing problems, try this... And believe :)))) |
