What long-range weapons are scout-friendly?
I've tried various rifles and I've found that: Bolt Pistol is the perfect scout weapon, though I want to know if I've got any other options with longer range and overall succeed in the few situations where BP fails. Scrambler Rifle is utterly useless and possibly only useful for Amarr assaults. Would not spec again. Rail Rifle is good if the target is within a specific range and in the open. Otherwise, it's crap. Combat Rifle is alright, but it doesn't seem to kill quick enough. Though considering the high kinetic damage, scope and quick firing ability, it may be the best option. Ass Scrambler Rifle with its high accuracy, DPS and unwillingness to explode seems almost as good as the bolt pistol, though I should field test it before I impulse spec. Assault Rifle seems more suited to more robust mercs. Laser Rifle is not for scouts.
So what other options do I have, and how wrong are my beliefs?
Horrifying? That's a strange way to spell "romantic".

So what other options do I have, and how wrong are my beliefs? Looks about right RR and ScR have the best range, So I would say go with one of them. I'm not an ScR user so I can't give too much input there but I know they've got good range and accuracy. CR is very good if you get your timing right but it's second shortest range out of the weapons you listed so maybe not what you're looking for.
If you really like the BP tho you might want to try a combo like BP/ACR
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.

So what other options do I have, and how wrong are my beliefs? How are you using the Scrambler Rifle? I find it to be an extremely versatile weapon on a scout. Use the charge make Alpha Damage shots when the opponent does not know you are there. Head shots with the charge are very effective, and can be followed up with 2-3. This will kill many of the suits you run across, or if they survive, send them scrambling for cover. Giving you time to maneuver and your cool down to let you re-engage. Getting used to the overheat allows you to spam in close if you get into trouble. At Level 3 it works well.
Rail RifleGǪ You really need a good complimentary sidearm that you are comfortable with to make that one work for when people get in close.

Wouldn't use the Scramble on a scout, the weapons load noise and trace of fire gives away your position quickly, and if you overheat it will take away a significant amount of your lacking scout hp. The BP is a good scout sidearm, quiet, no trace and high alpha. The BP allows you to be stealthy and take out most suit within three shots without being detected, and since the auto aim is broken on it CQC is a sure win. As for your light weapon the CR or the AScR, from this you will have to choose between firing preferences, burst or full auto.

If you have the BP as a side arm then that is your long range weapon. Consider using the light slot for something more mid or close range. Or you could always use dual BP. Having twice th shots can be a game changer. |

The scrambler on a scout is usable if you have good gungame and do not use the charge shot.

The tactical assault rifle is a very good option if you have good aim and can control the recoil. it requires ar operation 4 however so its a massive waste of sp if you end up not liking it.
You can't fight in here! This is the war room.

A few different suggestions:
If you can use the Assault Scrambler to drop shields, then fight with BP while they are in armor, it's effective, or;
If you like the alpha, range and handling of the BP enough to want it primary, I suggest the Tactical Sniper Rifle, or;
I agree with hfderrtgvcd regarding the GLU-5 Tactical Assault Rifle: VERY different from typical AR, or;
if you are in the business of headshots at 40 meters, the Breach Scrambler Pistol does 130+ times 450% on a headshot (or it used to), or;
Try the Assault Rail Rifle, for a good time (bring ammo)
