Back when I first downloaded Dust, I remember reading the bloodline descriptions very carefully, and choosing the one that was best suited to me. It's a real shame such an interesting part of character creation isn't part of the actual game whatsoever.
Does CCP have any plans to utilize bloodlines in the game at all?
And if so, how could this be done without altering balance too much?
A few ideas to brain storm with: I think reading the bloodline description could hint at some sort of bonus that is offered
"This bloodline is known for their negotiating and always ensures that deals are done in their favor" - +3% ISK earned
"Mercs of this bloodline are very fast learners, and train relentlessly" - +3% SP gained
"Players of this bloodline are natural leaders and tacticians" - +3% to squad WP if you are squad leader.
I'd like to hear other non-game breaking potential bloodline bonuses.
The bloodlines are a great way to enhance player immersion.

Nope, didn't work in eve because everyone flocked to the Caldari with "ze mizziles" so now it's just an RP aspect.

In EVE Online, I think characters with a certain bloodline would have skill points alreay allocated into a skill. However, I don't believe there are enough skills to justify this. |

On the contrary, I actually think you could take a page from EVE with this.
Example: you pick your Caldari / Civire (bloodline) / Merc (background)
- Cal gives you a level 1 to 2 for some of the shield skills, Dropsuit CPU upgrade to 2, and level 1 for RR operation - Civire gives you maybe another level in shield extenders, 1 level for swarms, 1 level for RR operation, maybe a level one for some dropsuit upgrades. - Merc gives you 1 level for bolt pistol, explosives (grenades), and 1 level in RR operation.
Net effect on your new character: RR operation: 3 Shield upgrades: 3 Shield extenders: 3 Shield Regulator: 1 Bolt pistol: 1 grenades: 1 Dropsuit CPU: 2
