no they will spawn outside the LAVs if there is no seat available, same on HAVs.. the only one that needs an open seat is DS.
the MCRU is not active module but it bugs out sometimes for some reason and no one can spawn on it

It hasn't happened in a very long time so I guess I just assumed it was removed. Wish it was a better understood thing, but I honestly haven't seen that many in use.
i call out MCRU LAV when all else has failed, we are redlined, and my dropship has already been shot down, it has turned the match a couple times..
i recently went 1rst place with like 1700 wp from MCRU grimness spawns + a decent gunner.. i was pretty stoked because he got a bunch of hate mail from that match and there was just enough AV for my ship to look badass without cracking and hotdroppers were pouring out like rain.

TEBOW, seeing as how you are a proficient user of the MCRU in LAVs, can you confirm that you must be in the driver seat for the MCRU to work. Was I experiencing a glitch or proper function when I could not spawn into my own LAV MCRU after death? Thanks, man
yea someone needs to be in the driver seat in order for the spawn to work. you can let a blueberry drive it and you will still get the +50 if someone spawns in on your lav that is being driven by a blueberry, so you don't have to be in it in that case, just someone on your team needs to be driving and you still collect the WP from spawns.
also i've had squad members say my MCRU wasn't showing up even tho i was piloting the vehicle, but after reading kaze's post he mentioned something about if the clone is not completely bled out the spawn doesn't show up until he is bled out then he can see the MCRU spawn and select it.
i recently go 1rst place with the MCRUs sometimes, other matches no one spawns in.. it's like a mini game now to see where i can park an MCRU to get the most spawns.

My favorite was a person had a DS waaaaaaaaaaaaay up by the capped ceiling. No one from the enemy knew he was there and he had people constantly spawning on his MCRU and dropping down. We died horribly since there wasn't a coordinated amount of us coming in at the same time, but he mad bank that match.
i will fall asleep at max height.. i practice much to fly very low which is somewhat exciting and also i rarely hit an RDV or null missile at low altitude and every swarm cannot see me. i'm able to fit a proto XT-1 missile on a tanked grimness if i get a decent gunner who's worth fitting proto turret for. by flying low and him getting kills it seems to entice more spawns that get dropped precisely at the point we're harassing. if they witness a successful DS they will usually spawn in it again or allow me to pick them up. in a perfect match there's spawns pouring out over a point while the gunner is blasting away and the WP flows like wine. with those hotdroppers from the MCRU the AV often times gets countered, and sometimes causes reds to panic in the confusion from that many hotdroppers and a gunner.. other times the ship fills up with AFKers and i take a loss by bailing them all well into the redline.
