I have been flying a dropship recently and I feel like the swarms are locking on to me outside of the 175m range. Is there a passive boost that isnt listed? And if anyone has the time or funds to spare, could they test it out. I dont use swarms so i wouldnt know.
Had an Ambush OMS match earlier and one guy was denying the entire map of dropships, outside of them being 300m up. Impressive and irritating at the same time
Rise and shine CCP. It's time to implement ping based match making.

distance as seen from a derpship is seen differently than that of an infantry. While you think you are far away from infantry because of how small they look, in reality they are not that far away.

Lock on =/= Range.
A swarmer can lock on to you while moving away, fire 2 set of swarms and they will still reach you outside their lock on range.

I have the swarms and the recording device, but god help anyone who gets in a dropship with me. Problem with testing this is you're likely to get shot down by someone other than me given bb eagerness.
The very easiest would be to meet in a far distant location, get right above me and move upward. I can detect when my swarms stop locking and then switch to my other light weapon to determine what range that is.
However, more than likely it's what King said. My missiles will continue to chase you after the lock was established. Also looking down at us from the ground we seem minuscule and if we don't fire at you, you're likely to completely miss us on the battlefield.
