I'd be happy with some form of happy median, all of the arcadey BS that all the kids say should be included because video game is just silly.
OTOH though, your claims about ball and musket firing lines in Dust is equally as silly.
Too many extremists on this forum, where have all the moderates gone?

Too many extremists on this forum, where have all the moderates gone? well it is a twitch based shooter.. to change that aspect would be quite an undertaking and complete rebalance of everything.. the few PC tactical shooters out there that are not arcadey are very niche populations.. you can't really have that on console and expect any kind of population outside of a handful of neckbeards.. it's probably why Bad Company 2 has rested in the bargain bin for this long, there wasn't enough dance involved for the console crowd.
I don't think bringing it more to the middle ground rather than to either extreme would be that difficult. The trouble would be finding that sweet spot that wasn't overly arcadey while not strictly a sci-fi military sim (though I wouldn't mind that at all, I understand that it is an extreme position and not everyone will agree with me).
