I decided to play on my main and just kick around and have some fun and I played 4 pub matches and I saw people running faster than I've ever seen before.
It was everyone nearly....and if you tried to shoot at people, they swayed back and forth within the same 6 foot space like a flag waving violently in the wind.
What is going on? Is it the super strafe? Lag? I saw one logi running so fast it looked like this game was on a computer (PC) and it was a hack/mod. I went and sat up in the part of the map that wasn't used and just watched and I saw this Gal logi running almost as fast as an LAV could go.
There's a lot of things I don't understand about this game right now and I feel sorta lost...what's going on? |

Regular Plates got a strafe penalty. This made Regular Plates just not really worth it.
So now everyone just uses ferroscales. So now everyone can strafe moderately to insanely quickly.
That a good enough answer?

All of the light assault scouts moved to MinAssault. It's almost as good at strafe dancing, and features more eHP.

There's a lot of things I don't understand about this game right now and I feel sorta lost...what's going on? Sounds like an effect known as "Rubber Banding" which is caused by lag. The game will lag out for a few seconds, and then when the signal finally gets through the person will snap from where the game thought they were to where they had actually run to. Sometimes it can result in teleporting, but other times it can manifest as extremely fast movement as the game runs them through the path they have moved along really fast to get them to where they should be.
If both teams are lagging bad it can be fun to try to predict where people will be going. I have gotten many kills shooting at where I think people will be rather than were it looks like they are, in high lag situations.
Some people accuse Japanese Corps of using Lag exploits, but the truth is that Japanese players who play on the American battle-server are just more experienced at dealing with high lag situations than others are, and just being near a player from the other side of the planet will produce lag during your interaction with that player.

Fizzer XCIV wrote:robin williams' ghost wrote:But seriously, kin cats Kin Cats don't affect strafe speed. It works on sprint. The strafing can be summed up to Keyboard users as I have only seen one guy move amazingly fast while strafing and as it turned out he was using a keyboard and mouse. He moved to the point he went 59/0 because no one could register a hit on him. (Until I figured out his weakness at an engagement last second.)
He was a Gal Assault.

All I know is it just doesn't make any sense....Fox Gaden's theory about the rubber banding lag and how that Gal logi was able to run so fast makes sense..you see Hulu or Netflix lag out every once in a great while and the audio is going and then the video moves lightning fast to catch up to itself....I assume that's about the same thing.
Its just not really very fun to shoot at someone and they get all twitchy....even if I knew how to do that, I wouldn't. But that's me...we all have different playstyles so whatever...
seems like to me though if they nerfed it on an armor plate, and everyone ran to the armor plate that hasn't been nerfed like that....the developers of the game don't think you should do it so might consider knocking it off? I don't know...just a theory |

because i got tired of dying in a min logi suit so i respeced back into minmatar assault kith complex kincatz.. dont care if it's FOTM. this game is almost done for me anyway .. war thunder basically killed it and PS2 hasn't even released yet to pound in the final nail.. don't worry tho the speed fits will be nerfed back down to useless.. then the armor FOTM will return again before buffing speed, again... 10 year plan and all.. this game is a ******* joke btw just remember that and it's semi fun

Well I was saying, assuming lag isn't the underlying cause, and it could very well be, but that he could have just bumped into a group of guys stacking kin cats. I run very fast fits personally and can run like the wind. With some lag issues I've had the opposite problem, where it appeared as if I was running a hundred miles an hour around the map when in fact I wasnt moving at all, but was glitched into a wall or something.

Not accusing anyone in this thread but often people just seek to advance their own agenda or parrot their own or other's previous commentary on whatever topic... When OP compared what he was describing as waving like a violent flag I came to the same conclusion as you...
However, and I think it extends your comments on lag... Some players clearly appear to further gimmick the existing lag through the use of lag switches... I am not one to complain about this stuff too much because IDG2Fs but I will say that when I kill a player who looks likes he is at a rave with strobe lights in the way he teleports three meters left then right I gleefully exclaim "gotcha gl|tch b|tch!"

My understanding was that "Lag switching" was not possible in DUST due to how the servers are setup.
I find the heavy lag situations become more fun when you realize that you are zipping around and teleporting just as much from the other guy's perspective. It is like having a fire fight in a carnival fun house after taking acid.
