With player trading on the roadmap for feb.... We should start haggling out rational prices for things. Obviously things like Hellmar and others should demand a good price. But we need standards so that an actual player market can thrive.

Even with the massive influx of them, black eagles are easily worth 400-500k a pop.

BPO will almost surely be a negotiation.
Stick to isk items for now please.
I have several hundred ADV and PRO suits that I wont use but someone can.
Officer weapons from races I wont use, etc.
I used 100k as example cause most expensive variant is 77k. 500k per unit is what we want to keep from happening.

Player markets and commerce is one of the only areas where i would be willing to use a mic and socialize lol. i really hope it happens. A simple "Send item to" and a "QTY" , as said in the Roadmap, would be perfect, and an even better system than if they had a verified trading system.
By having a blind trading system, it opens the door for 3rd party services like verified middlemen. That adds a whole lot of meta. Do a blind trade and take a risk? Or pay a fee to a verified middleman to complete the trade?
Anyway, back on topic:
I agree with what is being said about the BPOs. Each one will have a different value to its buyer/seller and will have adjustments made at that time. Though I anticipate alot of BPOs will be sold in the form of auction. It is, afterall, the best way for a seller to get the best price, especially if its desired.
As for single use ISK/AUR/LP items, there wont be a specific standard, just a median range. If i was warehousing, wholesaling and retailing these items, I wuld price them somewhere in the sweet spot using the folowign metrics:
-Base store price -Grade STD/ADV/PRO -Base sellback price -Top sellback price -Demand
You want it lower than the base price, but not lower than the base sellback price. Dont go past the top sellback price. If its a module or suit you got in salvage that technically worth alot but with no demand, you might have to sell below median player market value.
People buy for alot of angles. Might be a corp buying equipment for its people, might be a vet with a top 50% sellback price who buys gear people sell at the 40% price and pockets the 10%. Its best to consider all these angles as well. The better you know your market, the more stuff you move.
Anyway, I dont think there will be a rigid standard, but I do predict that if things go along as they look like they will, player pricing for most items will be in the 40% median. |

Eve Online is a very clear and strong confirmation that trying to establish a set price for any given item in the secondary market is never going to happen primarily because of the laws of supply and demand. The prices will forever adjust according to these simple -- yet powerful -- laws.

Actually, 500k ISK per unit is exactly what I expect to see happen. The thing here is that you cannot expect players to honor an agreement to not stiff the buyers of their ISK. Just like the Confessor in Eve Online, the price of an item that is introduced into the market will be very high because of high demand, buyers who are impatient and ignorant, and limited supply. But once buyers get smarter, players becoming able to supply more for the market, and as general interest of an item lowers, the price will settle down.
There is also competition to account for. If I sell something for 500k ISK, someone else will post a sell order for 499k ISK and then some third person will post a sell order for 498k ISK. It's a never ending cycle.

Especially given the fact that they are the only light weapons that can fit into a sidearm slot. But these items are not something you can buy in the primary market. You'll only find them in the Daily Missions if you're lucky and maybe the strongboxes if you're lucky enough to open one with these weapons in them.
There are also prefitted 'Black Eagle' Scout suits that people hoarded that were only available as gifts from CCP.
But let's also not forget the ULTRA-RARE items that will likely be collectors items.
Items like:
- 'Kindred' and 'Solstice' scout suits if CCP ever gets around to correcting the bug that negatively affected their original colors. - The yellow-bottle BPOs which are never going to be sold again in any primary NPC market. - The Creodron Methana LAVs which were only made available via the PlayStation Home game in the Event Horizon Lounge. According to Kotaku.com, PSHome will be permanently shut down on March of this year. - There are also the 'Skinweave' BPOs which were only given as gifts by CCP during closed beta.

Another thing to account for are regional markets. The price of an item in the Heimatar region will be different from any other region such the Domain region. This will be especially true if players in Dust are ever given control of where to go in the future.
