Not bad if the enemey doesnt have a shield but other than that assults are like heavies. I find myself doing better with a militia scramble rifle than with proto cbr or acr. Oh and its out ranged by everything yea the cbr has good range but the dps is to **** to matter. Ccp owes me a free respec for having such a **** gun option on the skill tree. Realy makes dust suck everytime you get on and look at most of your points are sunk into a worthless gun. Have more fun with plasma cannon

The assault combat rifle is much better than the regular combat rifle, without a doubt. All the rifles are crappy now tbh. I got into the ACr recently, the only things I have trouble killing are Shield Tankers, and other MinAssaults with proto ACr Resident pasty smasher

Its a superior weapon at midrange, and if you couple it with a cooked flux grenade or a flaylock for close quarters, it's unstoppable. The CR has double the RoF of the ScR now, so you can pull the trigger twice as fast. The ScR is way more about timing than the CR. I can turn the CR fully auto by feathering the trigger... I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.

They aren't the god-mode sidearms they once were after AA got implemented, but you can still go and do pretty crazy things with them. Back in the day of the Cal Scout, I would put them on a basic minja with uplinks, shields, kincats and nothing else, and go to town on every single shield suit i saw. Lining up a headshot is golden, and the breach is probably the best pistol in the game RN. "Minja" and "Masochist" are synonyms.
