I'd like to know that. I find it very useful when sniping and it's a good way to fool people or sneak on them while keeping a low profile

I don't know but I don't see it as a necessary addition we have cloaks know.do you really want any suit to go prone.the sentinel would need a crane to get back up and scan profile reduced so unscannable heavy suits camping.
Pro Caldari assault and sentinel.

Not any good reasons really.
Its been one of those things that I think the game should have had all along.

Odd...
I place Minmatar scu... soldiers in the prone position all the time. Lupine and supine. Sometimes both at once.
This is a prototype-level sig. I worked hard for it, and I'm going to use it every time. So, just get used to it.

Crouching or going prone does not affect the electronic signature of a suit, so sneaking around while crouched, much less prone, offers no additional benefit.

Coding. CCP hasn't allocated enough budget to add something like that. Even if they did, I don't think the engine could handle it.

I supported prone in Closed Beta though only if there was an animation for it and not just up->down->up.
The arguments back then were mainly anti-dolphin diving. Personally, I was also anti-dolphin diving (which is why I suggested an animation so it wasn't just up->down->up).
Amarr/Minmatar vehicles are OP (especially Minmatar speed tanks)

CCP just doesn't think and it probably would be too hard for them to prone.
I imagine each frame suit would have different transition times and we all know something like that is extremely hard for them to do. Especially when it comes to new animations? Yeah, you can forget about it.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Because it's not necessary for the game. In fact I would probably like it less if there was prone, since it promotes camping. One of the best shooters of all time, Bad Company 2, had just crouching and it was fine.
The lack of sprint strafe used to remind me of BC2 as well. Probably a good thing that was removed though.

They were many reasons why prone was never added.
But one of the biggest, and probably biggest, reason, is because of hit detection issues. Going prone would cause your bullets to shoot into the floor, and at long range up in the hills, hit detection against snipers and long range players would be very problematic.
Guys would simply lie down on tanks to hide behind the tanks shields and shoot out from it. [add any other possible hit detection glitch to exploit]

Hey there genius scan precision is measured in decibels so scanning is sound wave based. Profile dampeners absorb sound to reduce the odds of being scanned. So yes crouching reduces scan profile, and so would going prone.0
