I feel like a lot of us would buy more APEX suits if we could customize them. The fits aren't exactly brilliant in most cases, and it also takes away from the sandbox feel. In addition, customization gives new players the ability to play around with new fittings without worrying about losing ISK. Now there is a valid concern brought up by me people saying customization woul d basically make it a BPO proto suit. In addition, you want the suit to reflect racial fighting styles, so you wouldn't want an Amarr logo to have a combat rifle on it. Therefore, I have devised what I believe to be a simple solution to this conundrum.

So when we customize normal suits, we are brought to our assets and scroll through the list til we fond the item we want. I propose a similar functionality when customizing APEX suits, but with a twist; only select standard "bpos" are available to change out, not your normal assets. For exame, I want to modify my APEX Amarr Assault's light weapon. I select the weapon with the fitting wheel. Now nor.ally I'd have a list of the assets in my inventory to fit. It instead, I have only whatever bpos you decide on having there, separate from my inventory. So instead of selecting my Ishukone Assault Rail Rifle, I would only see Imperial Scrambler Rifle or Imperial Assault Scrambler Rifle. Now my APEX CalAssault would have only State Rail Rifle or State Assault Rail Rifle.

In this way, players can customize their suits, allowing people to learn on their own what fits work and what don't, and gives more people reason to get them. Honestly the only reason I haven't is because I don't like how most are fitted and would buy some if I could customize them how I saw fit.

This mindset suffocates most of the customisation.
This thought unnecessarily restraints and dullifies the game.

It is a roleplay reson which can't even stand versus critical roleplay argumentation.

It's actually based on eve where nearly every ship gets significant advantages to fitting the weapons they're supposed to, like -50%capacitor use & +25% RoF/DMG for using racial weapons, or 2 sets of +50% range for hybrid weapons on some t2 cal ships. Every race should want to fit the 'right' weapons, not run around chasing the flavour of the month in regards to what weapons are the most op.

(And even in eve plenty of ships break fitting doctrine - caldari ewar ships frequently armor tank, amarr drone boats fit projectile weapons because they don't use capacitor to fire, some gallente ships like the Ishtar like to shield tank, etc).

I feel a better way to do this would be when you bought an apex suit u received all the "apex bpo modules" of all the equipment ccp put on it. This way you will gradually get more apex bpo modules as you buy more suits, so you can customise the suites more. These apex modules can only be fitted to apex suits and apex sits can only be fitted with apex modules.

That would actually be awesome. It would encourage more folks to get into factional warfare more often or be a little more tempting for some folks to purchase the AUR variants.

The only thing you want (to customize APEX) is to have a BPO roto with the BPO stuff you want. In this way Apex would become OP.

 So, no.

I use apex. Nothing wrong with them. Working as intended. I can quite easily fit a better suit by using the other available bpos but apex is just more convenient.
