What if...
What if AV didn't kill vehicles, but after a certain damage threshold, it disabled the vehicles weapons?
This could effectively change everything. The damage threshold before the vehicle's weapons system is disabled would be similar to what vehicle HP is now. However, Vehicles would have much more HP under that for Vehicle versus Vehicle battles, effectively prolonging the battles, making vehicle vs vehicle gameplay much more enjoyable.
I was thinking that vehicles should be the hard counter to other vehicles, with AV being infantry's self defense from vehicles. Only an idea though, I'm just trying to restore the vehicles of old but with better balance in infantry vs vehicle situations.
Suggestions very, very welcome. Please consider it before shooting it. DISCUSS!!!
(If this idea gets popular, I will revamp it and put it in features and ideas)

Welcome to two years ago.
CCP can't even do this with EVE.
We have been talking about the ability to target different systems on the space ships in EVE in PVP and 10 years later....
WE have talked about tanks having hit zones..
The ability to disable the turret from moving,, Firing... Disable the tracks and movement...
Stasis webifiers grenades that can slow and catch vehicles...
Meh.. CCP knows its more where they set their resources to develop assets and what they deem is right for their game in the end. |

It really wouldn't be all that hard. The way its going, it would even be easier to balance, as you won't have to play tug of war over vehicles being OP or AV being OP, as you can single out the problem to be AV versus vehicles or vehicles versus vehicles. It would be as easy as adding a "stamina" bar to vehicles, but making it deplete when AV hits it. Once the "stamina" is drained no more turret functionality.

Actually it would be. They would have to completely redesign vehicles to implement different things like you are talking about. Back burner at best.
That said, I applaud your idea though do not want to see it implemented in game.

Fck that noise, I ain't even going to read all of it.
AV weapons are designed to destroy vehicles. That is their reason to exist and besides that, if you take away their ability to destroy vehicles nobody will use them. Hell, look at what happened after 1.7; it was still possible for AV to destroy vehicles but so ineffective that barely anyone used it. Can't blame them, why fcking use a glorified paper weight to chip away at an ADS or a tank when you can just use an unmodified rail tank that does the job 10 times better.
If the ability to effectively counter vehicles is going to be taken away from AV then AV might as well be removed from the game.

What if vehicle fire didn't kill infantry, only deactivated their weapons? Or infantry weapons deactivating infantry weapons? Exactly.
Wouldn't mind the Flux having that feature, though. |
