I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as it's consistent. But players have to also realize mmo/spaceships is different from fps/fighting on the ground. Sometimes the practical should outshine the theoretical.
Shield tanking is hard mode /period.

21 day Free Trial and if you pay for a month I will give you the PLEX I get. That is 81 days for $20 or you can sell the PLEX for about 800M ISK and have 51 days. You could at least get a feel for it.
PVP is very intense, it will give you shakes like no other game I have ever met especially if the ship is expensive. The game is very beautiful to look at and has a meta game like no other. Much of the game is a click fest of waiting but the game allows you to do what you want and so your experience can vary wildly from other people's depending on what you like to do and how driven you are to find or make content.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3J5EnA3lGs is a good Brave Newbies video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5B6kPK8IIc is a solo PVP video. https://www.youtube.com/user/JonnyPew makes some really nice videos and can interesting to watch.
I love playing EVE because I can do whatever I want to do and go anywhere I want to go. The single sharded universe means everyone plays in the same universe so flying smart, making friends and having a plan is very wise. Don't let others get you down on it. The game is literally what you make it.

I mean, unless you have a great understanding of cluster based computing and how much load it takes to have 1,000 + active connections to a node then chill.
Most games deal with this by only letting a select amount of players on any server at any given time. EVE does this by slowing down the tickrate of the servers to more easily handle mass amounts of connections.
You have no understanding of how much data is needed to update the positions and state of everyone on grid. This data isn't just sent to you. All of that data is also sent to potentially thousands of other people.
From an engineering standpoint and knowing CCP, it's a miracle it all mostly works.
Dual tanking is for bad players.
Come play a better game.

EVE and DUST are the result of ideas from mad Icelandics! There is no comparison in my opinion.
DUST is a stress test game (if you play solo, how long can you hack it?) and EVE is a patience game (and how far can you get!?)

They say that despite Eve and Dust being different in terms of mechanics because they both share the same lore and culture. If Eve has the four empires, so does Dust. If Eve allows scamming, so does Dust. If Eve allows meta gaming, so does Dust. That's about it.

I have participated in this, so yes I know. I remember when the put this in the came - station spinning was multiplied by a factor of about 1 million.

Emergent gameplay caused the counter to be put in. There is nothing wrong with station spinning. It's a distraction when there is nothing else to do.
Also, "bad" at Eve is relative - everyone plays how they want to play in a way that they have fun. I am a pirate - but that does not invalidate market players (which to me is also a form of PvP but I'll leave that for another discussion.
IF there is a "bad at the game" type player, it's those that disparage people who enjoy aspects of the game that differ from your own enjoyment.

It doesn't have to be point and click anymore - there are WASD controls for your ship now
Now, Eve: Valkyrie - that will be a space FPS.

CCP has repeatedly said that this will not be the case. That while these games share a same universe, the mechanics of each will not be identical, even though there is some overlap. Because of this, Legion will have a revamped skill system for example. As for Dust, there are other factors missing (capacitor, structure in addition to shields and armor, ammunition types, etc). These games are definitely not a one-to-on comparison.

This. It's the only game I've ever played where the statement "the game is literally what you make it" is so applicable. Eve is a place where you get out what you put in. If you ware looking for something casual that you can quickly log in, play for 20 minutes and log out, you won't get anything out of it because you are not putting anything into it.

I like the sentiment, but... there really are players who are just bad at the game, and struggle to understand basic game mechanics and ship fitting concepts despite having access to high-tier ships and around a year of playtime
Like that MY RAVEN WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE FOLLOWING dude, who I sincerely hope can fit his ships better now
Back when I still played the game as a mission running carebear I was just stunned at how dull the other mission runners often were
Bitching and moaning and crying giant crocodile tears on the forums every time any change at all was made to a ship they ran missions with, like it was all a big conspiracy by the evil nullsec alliance CSMs to ruin the game for mission runners
they all preferred the dying part of "adapt or die" i guess |
