I think that having the new PC resource (I will refer to it as nanotechnetium to annoy EVE vets still annoyed about OTEC) could provide a remarkable opportunity to affect tiericide, or provide a means of manufacturing gear cheaper.
Let's call this resource goo a construction accelerant as a general term. It can be harvested in units and utilized for battlefield equipment construction.
It would also allow for BPOs at all levels to become a thing.
Example: Bob the Molon Labe PC gumby has dedicated part of his "warbarge" to nanotechnetium extraction as well as manufacturing. He has 100 units of nanotechnetium.
You can seed the market with generic BPOs that function normally in pubs at whatever meta level you want. Preferrably for 100x single copy cost minimum. Having a duvolle assault rifle BPO cost 47 million ISK would hardly be unreasonable for DUST.
BUT IN FW and PC the cost comes in.
Nanotechnetium can be used to construct battlefield assets in lieu of ISK expenditures.
Ten dropsuits (MLT fitted with MLT mods) with an average meta level of 1 cost 1 nanotechnetium unit.
Ten dropsuits at average of STD cost 2 (meta 2)
ADV cost 5, PRO cost 7.
This would allow an alternative method of gaining equipment and could be sold to individuals and corporations to fuel their own ambitions.
Alternately trade, once opened should allow players to trade this nanotechnetium to EVE pilots as a construction accelerant, which might allow them to either accelerate the speed of their own manufacturing or lessen the required resources for those projects.
Obviously the numbers here are just conceptual. But the idea seems sound.
Basically if you can load your warbarge with nanotechnetium and you have sufficient BPOs you should be able to manufacture your equipment in the field and save your ISK for things like LP suits, which could be made better than standard, or further barge upgrades and skillbooks.
Just an idea.
Something I think could be useful since I have always seen BPCs not as suits you have loaded in your armory but lease licenses. You have this many BPC proto suit license codes to manufacture said equipment on site via cru and depot nanoassemblers.
Making standard (read: generic) BPOs available to use this way at all tiers means that players have a capacity to manufacture their own gear.
Nanotechnetium can be awarded as salvage. Or it can be harvested by properly equipped people not in PC (I would make a district increase the production of this resource SHARPLY.)
More ideas could be had but this is the fastest way I can think of to have a use for it.

While I love and support the idea of a generic resource being used to construct gear at a variable cost based on tier, I have some concerns about tying it to BPOs. Forgive me in I misunderstand, but are you basically suggesting creating BPOs at all tiers that can be purchased for ISK, used normally like a BPO but act as a manufacturing tool in FacWar and PC?

I think he meant to say bpc |

But would they perform like current BPOs do in public matches?

i'M "Eh" on it. But honestly I doubt it.
Wanna protostomp? Pays your monies and takes your chances.
I'd reskin the current BPOs to a gold background to differentiate them from manufacture rigs in the icons.

OK read reread read again. Bpo's should go to adv, proto should be researched like tech 2 and dolled out as bpc's. Agree with concept but don't see it happening till legion. |
