" So this means the PS4 is already obsolete ??? Haven't even opened it yet . If what's happening now with these DDOS attacks are rampant , then what would that mean for that system or the future of gaming on a console in general . The next X-Box and PS will be cloud based and attacked on a regular by these do nothing , no helping hack groups . They could be clearing personal debt or student loans but they spend there time creating havoc while people are trying to entertain themselves . What a waste . Would it be a waste investing in the next gen when we just received the next gen ??? Next gen is sitting in my closet and now that might be outdated already . Seems like a real money grab to me and we knock CCP for there actions . Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

People just need to speculate on something, and this is what they are choosing to speculate on. I don't see it happening too soon simply because people still haven't fully bought into digital only games. A significant percentage of games are still physically purchased. At the same time, they have already started going this direction with Playstation Now and Playstation TV. They just announced the other day that Playstation TV will be supporting Playstation Now, which basically makes it a cloud gaming device. I don't know how well that will work as there are already problems with latency before you consider hacking attacks and the like. Not to mention you have to keep in mind what will be happening with Net Neutrality in the future, and perhaps having to pay a premium for cloud based services. I personally hope it never moves in that direction, but its way too early to tell what is coming next, and what will and will not be successful. Thunderbolt. verb and noun. I was thinking the same thing and selling the idea of digital would be a hard sell , really hard in these times but the move to streaming movies is only the first step . It's hard to even think about this now but if you don't heed the signs then were all caught up in the backfire . I don't like to be surprised like that . The main problem with cloud-based gaming is that not every console player wants to always play online 24/7/365. Some players live in areas with shoddy internet. Let's also not forget that companies like Comcast have constantly clearly ignored and brushed off any and all requests to upgrade the cable-internet infrastructure here in the United States. Look at electric cars. They are still not terribly common, yet some of the first electric model came out in 1880 if you can believe wikipedia. They tried again in the 70s or so when they had major gas supply problems. And while they are growing, they haven't taken off because of logistical issues. Things like Netflix really aren't interactive, so they don't have the same logistical problems as games. Perhaps a technology comes out soon that really reduces the problems internet presents for gaming, but that is going to be a huge hurdle for the foreseeable future. Thunderbolt. verb and noun. In the US there are still places where you can't get broadband internet, which is ridiculous. Now consider how large the US market is, and then you realize why at this point in time, investing in cloud based computing is just dumb for gaming purposes. And I'm still not sure if we are ever going to be able to solve the delay problem inherent in such a system. I tried playing OnLive, it was an atrocious experience back when I was in Europe. North and South combined is about the size of the state of Minnesota. It easier to wire the infrastructure of a country the size and more economically adventageous capitalize on the human resources of a highly populated region. That being said the South Korean government took incredibly proactive steps to encourage service competition, helping drive quality up and price down. It also helps that the timely release of Star Craft in pc cafes drove a monumental demand for cheap home pc Internet connectivity early on. I look forward to going back. How many people still post about MAG? yup its the same with ebooks. i just can't get into an ebook. hate the things. i much prefer both holding a physical book and the smell of the paper lol additional sensory elements can help with the nostalgia, not sure how old many of you are but if i dig out my NES, SNES or Megadrive/Genesis and i crack open a game case there is that smell of the cartridge and the smell of the instruction manuel. there was nothign better as a kid going to town on the bus for a new game and the 'new game smell' when you first open it to read the instruction manual on the bus ride home. with digital all that is lost, games are becoming stale in both gameplay and the feeling of holding a game you've wanted for ages, even the removal of proper instruction manuals is quite the let down if i'm honest, it loses an important aspect of the whole process, maybe if we still had a manual we wouldn't have to sit through the same idiotic 'how to' missions when we boot a game up. its all part of this hand holding culture games have and that anythign challenging just gets tossed to the side. anyone play the first zelda on NES? there was sweet fk all tutorial. you just saw a cave and went for it, no sword, shield or jack st lol Never argue with an idiot. they bring you down to their level and beat you through experience proud C-II bpo owner

Netflix even paid Comcast voluntarily to cover the costs of upgrading the infrastructure but Comcast was reluctant to do so. The US government even paid Comcast to do that -- which entails a stronger obligation on the part of the business -- but then somehow legislation was later passed that enabled the company to get away with NOT following through with its obligations while keeping the tax-payer money it received. In the meantime, Comcast and the like are just intentionally clogging up the connections with useless/junk data while still charging a ridiculous amount of money with bait-and-switch marketing tactics.
